Chacon was supposed to fight Camacho in 1983 but refused to and instead fought Boza Edwards. How do you see this match turning out if Chacon ended up fighting the Macho man?

Camacho destroys Chacon, permanently retiring him.

In Bobby's defense, it wasn't so much he refused to as it was he had a better offer. Camacho was promoted/owned by Don King, who was in bed with the WBC and the offer was $250,000 to defend against Camacho. But Bobby signed to fight Boza Edwards for $450,000. So King tells his WBC cronies to strip Chacon, which they did. But the funny thing was was that Edwards was the WBC's #1 contender. So now they really looked like stooges to the world when they were stripping him for fighting their #1 contender. I know they had gone to court before this fight (there were injunctions trying to stop it) and I can't recall but I actually don't think this fight had WBC blessing as a title defense (which is dumber still). But regardless, this was Bobby when he was really just a tearaway. His reflexes were gone by this time and that is why the networks loved him because every fight was a war. Bobby in his featherweight days though was awesome, but by this time he would have been easy meat for a prime Camacho. It would have been Camacho on cuts.

No disrespect to Chacon, but Camacho was a level above. Fairly comfortable win for Hector.

Camacho by easy UD 12. It was a miracle they didn't stop the Boza fight in Boza's favor. Boza stood right in front of Chacon and while kicking the **** out of Bobby most of the fight, got caught with right hands. Camacho would have glided around the ring and landed shots and at times, moved in and outsped Bobby. I don't see Camacho getting hit with any homerun right hands or stading still long enough to worry about Bobby's body shots.

I think King had options on Chacon's defenses. I think Bobby had to agree to that to get the title shot at Limon. I don't think it was about Camacho being a King fighter as much as it was about King and Suiliman's shady relationship.

The stripping of Chacon and forcing a fight between legitimate champ and the sanctioning body's #1 Contender to be a non title fight was a travesty and an insult to both Chacon and Boza Edwards. Chacon earned the title the hard way with a brutal win over WBC favorite Limon and Boza had beaten a bunch of good competition since losing the title almost two years earlier. Jose Suiliman and King's relationship was akin to two Mafia leaders.

Fortuanetly the Boza/Chacon fight happened anyway and is a Classic.

And it should stand as a lasting tribute to their corrupt alliance. Much like the Tyson-Douglas fight when the two conspired to steal Douglas' hard-won title by claiming it was a long count in the 8th round and Tyson should have got the fight.

I'll take Hector Camacho to score a knockout or a stoppage. He not only had too much speed and quickness for Chacon but Hector was on the way up. He was a dangerous fighter.

My heart would be 100% with Chacon but I don't see him beating Camacho.

That's me, I loved Bobby but he'd have no chance.

I remember watching Bobby Chacon when he fought on Boxing From The Forum in 1972 on Friday nights on NBC. He was known as Schoolboy Bobby Chacon. A very courageous hard hitting fighter. Both Hector Camacho and Bobby Chacon have a common opponent, Cornelious Boza Edwards. Chacon lost his WBC Junior Lightweight Title on May 30 1981 by a unanimous decision. Camacho defended his WBC Lightweight title on Sept 26 1986, defeating Edwards by a boring 12 round unanimous decision, which Hector ran for the duration of the bout. Edwards would complain of the track meet in the post fight interview.. Camacho's speed would spell the difference in this match, Camacho with far superior footwork, snappy right jab, wins this fight by unanimous decision. Bobby's experience keeps him upright in this fight.
