Just wondering how accurate they are? If anyone has used them or would recommend them. I see them as a perfect way to lower my body fat to around 8-10 currently I believe I am stuck at 12%.

Thanks for the help. Heres an example of one.

all those type of body fat scales are totally inaccurate, especially argos specials for 30 quid, there are ones that you stand on and hold onto handles that can cost up to a grand and are still very inaccurate, the best and most trusted method is the calipers taking the general 3 points of the tricep, scapula and abdominal area
i was measured by a women who teaches nutrition and got a reading of 6.3% which sounded right as my bf is low and she was a specialist at what she does, the scales i jumped on gave me a reading of 11%

For your BMI I recommend using a tanita scale its the most accurate and its what Drs and ring officials use.

bmi is bull**** it doesnt take into account muscle mass, it deems some people overweight even if they have a bf of 3 and large bulk, all rugby players, bodybuilders and hw boxers would be classed as obese by using bmi

BMI is worthless. If you want a truly accurate reading your GP can measure it with Calipers.

Anyone with a BF percentage of 3% would be close to dead. Percentages like that dont exist unless your severely malnourished or dehydrated. And BMI is a basic calculation with a set number of parameters that simply isnt aware of bodytype or composition. It simply states someone "so" high should way "so" much. Its completely out of date.

My girlfriend bought me one of the expendive ones from Argos and I have to say it was very dissapointing despite it costing her £60. It has 3 settings depending upon your activity levels and gives you widely varying results based on this.

It said I had 5% body fat which is clearly wrong based upon my normal activity level so I checked the other activity levels and it said my BF was either 8.5% or 13.4% depending on how active I was. If this thing was anywhere near accurate it would not need different setting it would simply give you an accurate reading.

Of course I haven't told my girlfriend it's a peice of crap have to pretend it's great and use it every morning to get my BF reading.

they do exist because i know a guy with a 3.2 %, many professional athletes can attain low bf% like this
heck i even had below 6% at one stage and i binge on sweets and biscuits EVERYNIGHT, sylvester stallone in rocky 3 and 4 had a bf% of 2.3 at his lowest stage, its in his book, i have seen many athletes with bf in or around 3% its not as uncommon as you think

Erm no it is. People do NOT walk around with BF's that low though point blank. The only people who get that low are bodybuilders. Paul Dillett got down to 4-5% once. He had to be stretched out of the competition. Its EXTREMELY dangerous as the only fat left is whats protecting your internal organs.

I absolutely assure you Stallone did not have a BF that though. If i were you id go away and understand what BF entails and "how" its measured.

he was stretched out because he was standing under lights extreme heat, tensing up every muscle in his body for possibly hours and was dehydrated to the point of collapse, no energy intake for hours and dehydrated at the same time, i know what bf entails and how its measured, but again i know of and have seen people who have gotten to bf of 3 for a short period of time, there are people with natural low bf with professional guidance and training they can get their bf lower :good

**** off. I'm pretty sure you'd be verging on death if your body fat dropped below 4%.

Basically in a nut shell 2-4 % of bf is essential for men. Below that you die, no ifs or buts or so and so celebrity did this. YOU WOULD DIE.

According to a couple sites i looked at briefly you would die before you even hit 4 % as there are fats that are needed for you to function.

If you dont believe me google it and do some research, i am by no means an expert but it took me about 1.30 mins to work out your a tool and dont know what your talking about enjoy :good

Personally I do not believe Stallone would ever lie about this subject, especially in a book. Always trusts books.

essential body fat ranges from 2 to 5 % correct, you would die you are also correct but you would die EVENTUALLY, it is possible to stay in a state of extremely low bf for up to 48 hours before the body starts to suffer, so enough of your **** because low bf % is attainable without sudden death:lol:
