I'm sure this has been done before but...

I personally believe this is one of the most important skills to acquire/develop for young fighters. What happened to body punching?

Who's the most ferocious body snatcher out there today?

Seems like hardly anyone teaches body punching or head movement anymore.

Out of those four, its Joe Frazier with ease.

Yeah, I don't know why but it probably has to do with the patience required and the inability to end fights really quickly when committing to the body. 1RD knockouts sell tickets but they handicap the fighters handing them out.:thumbsup

Shane Mosely pre-ODLH was a monster body puncher, after that he seemed to lose the art, and became very one dimentional.
Ricky Hatton was another monster body puncher, his ko of Pendleton is immense.
Barrera's left hook to the liver was sickening.

just that there are things that you could do to your body to resist hard punches. not much you could do with your head/chin.

Mosley's body attack is under rated. Hatton worked the body very well. Few heavyweights do it any more and they should. Fighters like Holyfield and Brewster were pretty good.

Good call. I remember him stopping Richie Wenton years ago with a body punch that made Wenton double over.

MAB was the last great body puncher.....Cotto was headed in the right direction but has become much more one dimensional....

I agree with you. Sadly one of the best body punchers in history is not recognised by some blind people who likes to talk trash of this guy by his antics. The name of the boxer is Floyd Mayweather Jr. His boxing is primary focus is on constant body attack by a lot of different angles and different mix of punches. People overlook good body punch by bad technique and single hard blows. The best example of this is Cotto. Cotto throws his body punches with a full swing, very bad technique and his defense is severely compromise in his effort to deliver with force. In the end he is counter punched with ease, and when he faces superior boxers he is unable to go to the body by its lack of defense. Margarito and Paquiao are the best examples that whe he faces stiff competition he is unable to deliver by its lack of technique. Look how Mayweather dismantle Judah. After four rounds Judah has nothing left, in the fifth round Judah was finish. And some poeple here talk about how good Judah was in the fight. He won 2 of the first 5 rounds and in the end he was finished by body punching. Watch the Marquez fight. Marques was the one supposed to go to to the body and in the end was the exactly opposite. Watch the Corley fight, watch the Mitchell fight, watch the Corrales fight. And i emphasize watch the fight, not talk and do not underestimate the guy. If you are prejudice for somebody, you will never see what he does in the ring. In the Oscar fight Mayweather go up and down alternaltely. Sometimes it seems that he will puch you with a right to the face and the puch end in the stomach, and does that again and again in different fights. And of course the Hatton fight. Hatton was throwing punches to the head and Floyd was in the ropes, and the thing that almost every body dont see was that the right hand of Floyd was free and he was punishing Hatton to the body. The explain why Floyd dimished his opponents without looking overpowering. His perfect form and technique mixed with excellent balance and the lack of try to deliver a heavy blow compromising the technique is the reason why it is overlook as one of the best body punchers in history. In the end the art of body punching is that.... body punching. Mayweather emphazise in body punching. Watch the fights that i tell you and you will see that the attack is consistent throw the fight and in almost all his fights. Wilfredo Gomez from P.R. was an animal in this department too. Dont get confused by belive that a good body puncher fighter is the one who throws single hard shots here and ther vs the one who focus his main attack in the lower body.
