Chavez was a monster in that department. As well as Vicente Saldivar.

Cotto was deadly to the body once upon a time, as was Hatton. Barrera was a brilliant little body puncher also.

Its kind of funny how they are always overlooked when body punching is discussed.

Or infighting. Once they get on the inside it's off to the clinchfest.

Marco Antonio Barrera, baby. And of course JCC. Two of the best, in my opinion.

Even late in his career when he became a boxer MAB still had a mean left to the body. I remember he hurt Rocky Juarez with a couple.

Yep, Rigo's last two (I think) KO's have been from picture perfect lefts to the body.

Yeah... It's a lost art. Lost on 98% of the judges, journalists, and fans who try to score fights.

I think since in the amateurs body shots since they don't score very well, and having that when the fighter turns pro he can't throw it very effectively and what not

Tyson could go to the body when he wanted to. Mosley & Cotto were mentioned as was Chavez & MAB. It frustrates me when these young fighters have there opponent on ***** street and throw just headshots. As the saying goes,"You chop a tree down from below then the top will fall aswell".

Everything goes in styles. Sort of like how every up and coming fighter these days tries the Manny Pacquaio step in, combo and step out deal.

When a devestating top level body puncher comes around again, everyone will go back to doing it.
