0 body punches landed by Klitschko and he utterly decimated Povetkin and won all 12 rounds. When you have amazing talent, body punches are useless in comparison to head punches. Everyone always mentions why don't they go to the body? It's because you don't need to if you know how to target the head.
Body punching is candy for elitists who never stepped a foot in the ring. Sure, a well-placed liver-shot can decimate anyone. However, at the top level most guys know exactly how to avoid that. In reality, most boxers would willingly eat 10 body punches, if in change they get one opening for a hook. At least that holds true for power-punchers.
body punching doesn't only allow for ko's sometimes though, it can help take wind out of your opponent, tire them out. Mix up your attack to allow shots to the head or body that aren't as predictable.the fact is, lot's of fighters have perfected body shots and have used it to great effect. if they didn't use them, perhaps they wouldn't be as good or have the ko percentages they've amassed.
Wlad was way taller then Povetkin; He almost couldn't have gone to the body against someone so much smaller.
Well this is dumb. First of all wlad is a giant who uses his height very well. He would somewhat take away that advantage by punching down or fighting inside throwing body shots. If you've ever sparred or box. 10 body punches will take out a lot more from you than 10 head shots. Trust me I box( 14 amateur fights ). I've never been knocked down by a head shot in a fight or sparring but I've been dropped by perfect body shots IN SPARRING. In sparring I'd prefer to take a head shot than a body shot because of the headgear lol No lie. A perfectly placed body shot will paralyze you son.
