A body shot should be equal to a head shot, and you can knock your opponent out with either. Head shots are preferred by movers and speedsters with long arms who pot shot at the outside. Body shots are favored by pressure fighters, inside fighters, and swarmers who like to get up close. Both are valid tactics to win a fight. Of course, I also think that jabs shouldn't count as much as power shots.

In terms off long term damage yeah, but pain that both cause during the fight is roughly equal.

UFC fans are poluting the sport of boxing.

Next, boxers will be able to use knee strikes like Maidana attempted to do twice to Mayweather.

You are making up your own rules so you can change your opinion from a draw to a wide Lara win it seems.

I find this post ridiculous because he's saying body shots should not count at all but, they are not the equivalent as many are saying. If you could somehow calculate the pounds per inch in which a punch lands and the same ppi were recorded on the head and body you would see the reaction on the fighter is not the same. As a pro athlete could take a shot better to the body than to the head. The punch is being landed on something much more significantly sturdy, the body, ( a large mass target with legs for back up) as opposed to the head (which is much smaller and only has the neck as muscle back up). Though, in turn, since the body is a much larger and stable target fighter's typically tend to throw more into that shot since they know they must to have an effect and it is less likely they miss.
