This is where body shots come in, when the fighter has poor movement, can't cut off the ring or get past his opponent's defence to make clean head shots.
The body is much easier to hit then the head.

If we assign scoring weights to Head Vs Body shots, a head shot has a weight of 1.0 while a body shot's weight could vary between 0.25 and 1.0 with the higher body shot weight of 1.0 being a TKO shot like Hopkins-DeLa Hoya.
Most of the body shots landed by Canelo would have been in the .25 weight category.

Watch Chavez Sr vs Lonnie Smith and learn how effective body punching can be against a defensive boxer on the run.

It also has some great commentary from a young Tyson and you won't want to miss Smith deliberately kneeing Chavez in the balls.

    Check it out.

It would sound pretty stupid to a cave man who didn't understand the art of the sweet science. Don't believe me. Ask Ali, Pernell, Leonard, Hopkins and Mayweather. :yep

its funny how most are calling sweetsciguru an idiot but half the posters in this thread dont even understand the point (however flawed) he was trying to make. hilarious

usually judges dont score bodyshots as highly as headshots, a head snapping back will impress a judge more than the hardest body shot almost every time.
right or wrong is not the point...its simply the way boxing has traditionally been scored.

Read it again and think critically.

You can't hit what you can't see.

    What is Lara, the predator?

    Is he invisible?

    Was Canelo blind?

And honestly, what do you know about boxing?

    You exposed yourself.

You don't count body shots which means, you've never boxed in your life.

I doubt you've ever even been in a fight.

If you want to get some more insight, go to a boxing gym and actually take some shots to the body.

    And running, is not boxing.

I could go into an amateur gym and have, especially when I first started...run around and the other guy couldn't touch me.

But I wasn't gettin many shots off either.

    That's not boxing.

    That's RUNNING.

    Go actually box for once.
