You can't possibly be as bored as I while listening to Casuals give the same credit to body shots versus head shots. :yep

Based on this new understanding corners should now employ body masseurs and acupuncturists as well as cut men. :patsch

lemme guess you got bent over like a ***** after taking your first one... ouch they hurt real bad dont they. these are pro fighters who've boxed since they could walk we're talking about not your average **** at the gym - it takes alot to hurt someone like that to the body. thats why fighters predominantly go to the head because its easier to ko/tko someone with a well placed shot ffs.

i thought this thread was about scoring though, not effectiveness but some people never learnt to read...

You can still take something out of them by going to the body, no matter how well conditioned they are. And you can certainly score KO's with a well placed punch downstairs. See the Kameda-Singyu fight on the under-card for evidence.

Body shots are scoring blows, and should be counted as scoring blows. Period. Same as jabs, which sometimes get ignored.

Did I say it was impossible to put someone down with a body shot. No. Just more unlikely than a head shot. And furthermore we aren't talking about how they "should" be scored in an ideal world but rather how they are, generally, scored.

Particular to this fight you could argue that many of the 'bodyshots' were landed in non scoring areas and as such should not be counted hah

But in general it's easier to connect to the body, since it's a larger target. And while someone can absorb punches more easily downstairs due to conditioning, it still can set up an opponent's ability to attack the head.

And while you may not be referring to how they are generally scored, the OP is of the opinion that body shots shouldn't count at all. And that's just ridiculous, imo.

op was misread imho, but ive stated my case we all know what the judges are watching most of the time. ffs sometimes they sit too close & low they cant even see some bodyshots landing hah.

Hey fool. Two fighters throwing 30 shots each in a round.
One fighter lands 30 body shots while the other lands 30 head shots.
Guess who wins the round? It's not the guy who landed the body shots. :patsch
