89 media score cards 34 for Canelo, 30 Lara and 25 draw don't see the robbery you are talking about.

Most polls on who won the fight are fairly even.

This is quite possibly one of the worst threads ever created on esb.

Your scoring is perfect and everyone else is lying to themselves I guess.:D

What I and many others seen was a close fight that could have went either way.

I'm embarrassed on you behalf. How can you possibly say that with any degree of certainty? So 30 Paulie jabs are better than 30 Cotto body punches? You sir are a genuine bonafide electrified moron.

Saying body shots don't count is clearly incorrect, they are scoring punches, especially if they are hard clean hooks to the body. Might as well say jabs should't could because a jab alone can't win you a fight and you rarely see a fighter dropped or KO'ed by a jab.

It's about the quality of the punch and we judge that based upon how cleanly the punch lands and the effect on the opponent.

    Nope. This is worse.

Those were opinions, or prognostications, which ended up being wrong. This is factually incorrect from the get.

    No It's correct.

The rules are changing ro accommodate weak bellied European fighters who cannot take body shots and thus score them as highly as head shots.
The fact that recently boxing started releasing total punch stats the WWE crowd actually started gauging who wins the fight based on punch landed statistics.
That Lara won the fight based on effective punching, ring generalship, and limiting Canelo to under 90 punches landed over 12 rounds is far too much an equation for the count-on-their fingers casual boxing fan.

    SweetSci is mentally ******ed.

Clean, effective punches landed are what counts in scoring. It doesn't matter if it's to the body or head. If one fighter lands cleaner and more effective punches than his opponent, he wins the round.

The funny thing about this is that the fight played out similarly in terms of the ratio of punches land and the distribution of head/body shots to Mayweather vs. Castillo I... Mayweather landed exclusively to the head and Castillo exclusively to the body. Similar to Alvarez vs. Lara. It is why both are close fights and often debated. It's "the body shot argument." I love body work, personally. But given scoring criteria, Alvarez owned in the Ring Generalship and Effective Aggression portions while Lara did nothing in those regards.
