I was thinking about this one also. The body shots decided the fight. If Cotto went also to the body instead of headhunting he was going to win. But Margo head is so easy to hit that it is hard to resist I guess
I think the best body punchers are the ones who work their body punches in with their combination's, not the ones who wait for you to become a stationary target where by they can bang you, which is why I'd go for, Barrera, McCallum, and Cotto. Cotto-Urkal is a good display from Cotto.
A lot of the really good ones have already been said. I'll throw out a really recent one that, I thought was surprisingly good(at least effective). Kessler vs. Froch Why was it impressive? Kessler is/was a bit of a notorious head hunter, never really went to the body much previously and it was wise to incorporate it into his gameplan because for all of Froch's flaws he has outstanding stamina. Kessler's early body work for the first 4-5 rounds took the wind out of Froch's sails in the late rounds. It wasn't neat or crisp like the others that have been mentioned, but it was effective for his gameplan.
Julio Cesar Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor fits the description really well and is also one of the best fights ever.
Please tell me where I said it was the best display of bodypunching I had ever seen? Or was I making a point about a fighters deceptive body punching skills?.
I remember Chris Byrd Throwing body shots on David Tua and didnt Tua were Gasping Air like he had Asthma Attack?:think
