Bodybuilding?? Hell no. Not for boxing. Lifting weights for strength and not bulk? ABSOLUTELY. There is no boxer that would not benefit from a balanced weight training program. Increasing strength without increasing muscle mass will positively affect a boxer in many ways. You will hit harder, you will be faster and you will be less susceptible to injury. No ifs, ands or buts about it. In 2011 boxing trainers need to get over that old wives tale about lifting weights being bad for boxers.
Hello Boxinglad . I like your post dear. Good job. Thanks for advice. I want to ask one thing more that if someone have no any strong muscles, then will he able to do boxing ? Reply me soon . Thanks
i tend to keep the speed through the entire 50 pull ups. its only about 70 lbs of weight and really most people could probly do 70 lbs rowing as fast as they can for more then 5 or 6 reps, in the same sense im sure they can imagine that its possible to do 50 with 1 sec per movement. I havnt really tried for my 1 rep max but with my weighted routine i do 3 sets of 3 reps at 240 lbs (50 lb weight) so im guessing 260-280 would be my 1 rep max. as far as lowering myself, at the top of the pull as im going up i have to slow down with the slowing down i push my self the opposite direction and soon before i get to the bottom i slow down and pull my self back up. I agree that it could be easy to injur oneself which is why is reqires a great deal of stability, as well i belive the eccentrict nature of decelerating the weights compliments the speed training quite well. some personal experience, my friend trains with normal and 20lb weighted pull ups and where i do mainly 30% 1 rm or 40% 1 rm. after repeated ridicule as far as not doing many real pull ups while i continued to claim my style was better he chalanged me to see who could do more with a 20 lb weight vest. i did 17 to his 13, and i did the 17 in about the same amount of time it took him to do his 13. thanks for the stretching advice, ill try that next time i go.
yes, as far as strength its going to be very slight so you should also do 3 * 3 with like 80-90 kg but over time you will find your 1 rm at 105 kg 110 120 130 and you will be lifting the bar at 21 kg 22 24 26 ect ect.....as well the deceleration and having to control the bar and slow it down gives the amount of weight a slight weight increase for those points of the exercise. though as the main goal insnt strength but velocity and one would definatly have more noticeable gains in that. like lets say you were to hop at a natural pace for a min and count your hops. then, say your squat 1 rm was 100kg, you were to squat with 20 kg as fast as you can for 30-50 reps of 2-5 sets for a couple weeks you would notice that the amount of hops you could do in a min at a natural pace will have increased.
This is bull****, you don't keep the speed for 50 reps. Your story about your alleged friend is bull**** as well. You just can't help yourself can you? You need to get real Ylem.
Sounds rational on paper, but in my experience guys who commit to lifting don't have "it". Except for the "beasts" (guys who are all around monsters)? I have yet to see your logic pan out in the Boxing gym.
true story.....i cant help it if you dont belive me. its 70 lbs......its not even my body weight.......its just 70 lbs.... go get on a assited pull up machine and set it so your only lifting 35% your body weight and tell me you cant do that alll day with a speed of atmost 1 sec per movement.....if your 170 thats 60 lbs (110 lbs assisting) 150 thats 50 lbs (100 lbs asisting) if you 120 thats 40 lbs(80lbs asisting)..... especially once you start moving the 100 and so pounds it has its own momentum to help you maintain the speed....alll your really have to deal with is when your changing directions from up to down or down to up. another personal experience...NVM he wasnt going to gym at the time....so its just a.......Cool story......Bro....
Ylem, I would love to see some footage of you doing 21 pullups in quick succession maintaining proper form.
While your at it Ylem - could you also film yourself practising your footwork on your busiest local freeway. Thanks dude.
and? that hunch you see? thats my massive back. just like The brown bomber and his hunch....the hunch is more of an optical illusion due to the massive size of my back and the relativly small size of my chest and biceps. This content is protected
i am me. perhaps one day that will be worth more then being louis or marquez.....though id prefer to be John L Sullivan......he had a wicked style. but really look at that hunch back on louis.......perhaps you should start calling him frankenlouis......
