Ok seeing as your wit is fairly lame but is a fairly good indicator of your knowledge on this topic let me hit you with the "hee" you stupid child.

    Description Women Men Essential fat 12–15% 2–5% Athletes 16–20% 6–13% Fitness 21–24% 14–17% Acceptable 25–31% 18–25% Obese 32%+ 25%+
Note that the essential fat values in the chart above are lower than the recommended minimum body fat percentage levels. A small amount of storage fat is required to be available as fuel for the body in time of need.<[1] It is unclear whether falling in a particular category of these body fat percentages is better for one's health than any other, but there seem to be enhancements in athletic performance as one nears the ideal body fat percentage range for one's particular sport. The leanest athletes typically compete at levels of about 5-8% for men, however it is 10-15% for women.[4] Bodybuilders will often compete at ranges even lower than these levels. Certified personal trainers will suggest to male bodybuilders that they should aim for a body fat percentage between 2-4% by contest time.[5] Getting to this level usually requires a carefully planned and implemented exercise program, specific and carefully monitored variations in fluid consumption, energy intake and macronutrient ratios, sodium and potassium, and sometimes also use of ointments and alcohol.[6] Because joints and organs have an inadequate amount of protective fat at the low ends of this range, it can be dangerous to maintain this state for more than a few days.

Now iv mentioned these to you in all my previous posts. Your blabbering on about case studies and articles when the information i have posted to you is augmented as proof by the above wiki page.

Now those figures are not hard and fast but they are a very good indicator depending on your genetics and body type.As you can see at the time i played ball i fitted into the category of an athlete. Now that i lift and box and my weight and BF has gone up i fit in the category of fitness/acceptable depending on my conditioning. I have already told you the averages for the man on the street, which is now re-enforced by the article you requested.

Now as i already said and will say again to you 8% is achieveable but rare as the poster you was talking to im pretty sure is not a professional athlete who trains 5 times a week, and you have no idea as to his diet, genetics, nor bodytype to make an absurd aspertion that 8% is readily achievable when most ATHLETES have BF`s between 6-13%, with the lower end being the leanest.

ok...i think this thread needs to just be put to rest. all of these body fat percentage machines out here r NOT ACCURATE. u have to really be tested under water and all this other bull ****. it really doesn't matter what ur body fat is as long as ur healthy. i know ppl whose body fat is probably 20 and probably around 5 and that's just their body type and both r healthy and in shape. everybody is made differently. just as well that everybody's fat acts differently to their body

plus don't u realize that there r businesses out here KILLING u guys and making TONS of money from u????? it's just like the department store that has their sizes lower for girls' clothes, particularly talking right now, jeans. some stores a girl for instance will wear a size 5 but at the other store (where they make their clothes bigger) the girl is down to a size 3 so she goes to that store knowing the NUMBER is lower. the number has NOTHING to do with it, there is no change. just as in these experiements and "tests" saying what men's body fat is. they make everybody concerned on the number which makes ppl buy fat burning products, body fat measurers, vitamins, steroids, all that **** and making MILLIONS from u. again, it's NOT the number, it's going to be how ur health and body is. numbers don't really mean too much.

I don't know what kind of research you have done to make claims like that. Numbers DO matter. Pretty much every problem in the world can be expressed mathematically. A percentage gives you a general goal to work towards. A low bodyfat percentage actually guarantees that you look lean, I don't see why there is a question about that. Obviously not all products out there are legitimate and some try to make money off gullible people. But that doesn't mean the countless years of research into sports science is fraudulent.
