Why are you making this so hard? Why are you delibertley trying to make things difficult? OK, i will make it as simple as possible. Cotto fought at 140. Cotto fought at 140 even when he was struggling to make the weight because moving to the weight above is always a risk because of decreasing returns on power and strength, in many cases. Cotto has fought MOST of his career at 140. If Cotto's last fight at 140 had been Hatton, I would expect Hatton to win due to Cotto's stamina issues. Hatton is a pressure fighter. Opponents with stamina issues are mother's milk to pressure fighters. However, I think fears about moving Cotto up were unfounded. I think 147 is the right weight for him. He is strong and powerful. Hatton, on the other hand, is not big enough for this weight. Therefore, I conclude that Cotto would beat Hatton at 147, probably by stoppage. There is nothing contreversial or strange here, you are just being odd about it. The only thing worth discussing is the 140 match up, but you are behaving like it is lunacy to even discuss it This is a fair opinion.
If Hatton and Cotto fight I promise you this, it won't be the weight division bull**** that gives us a winner. It'll be down to who the better fighter is. The weight barely even comes into it. 50/50
Given the fact that Hatton has admitted he does not like fighting at 147 and that his performances there have been pretty poor, what makes you think weight won't be an issue? For me, Ricky Hatton is not a WW.
Well, firstly his performance being poor against Collazo was due to the awkward style of the opponent, and the fact Ricky only knew he was fighting at welterweight 3 weeks before the fight. I dont think he's any worse at welterweight,so long as he's properly prepared for it, just his opponents are bigger. Collazo is a big welterweight, no doubt, bigger than Cotto even. When he comes into the ring on fight night he weighs around 150-155lbs, which I believe is roughly the same as Cotto. The difference is Hatton can still make the weigh-in at 140lbs whereas Cotto cant, so Hatton chooses to fight the smaller guys. I dont dispute that Cotto has been better at 147lbs, but I dont think that gives him as big an advantage as you reckon. Ricky Hatton versus Miguel Cotto is a 50/50 fight, I honestly wouldn't pick anyone or put any money down one or way or another. I think Hatton has better footwork and more stamina, he throws greater volume of punches and has a better chin too. I think Cotto is physically stronger, although Hatton is still very strong, hits harder and fights very intelligently too. Theres very little between them and I'd LOVE it if they both won and fought in 2008.
Cotto is ****. The most over rated fighter on the planet. Absolute china chinned dog**** and Mosley is gonna **** him up. I hate Miguel Shitto because he is nothing but a product of marketing and hype.
why do you think cotto is hyped? because of the substance, he is an exciting fighter, he always brings it.
Hmm not very bright are you..atsch Cotto has fought alot of worthy fighters on his march to world title contention and has been brought along excellently by Arum and passed every test. His best win to date has been over Judah whom he TKO`ed in a brutal affair. And you think his just hype and marketting? You might want to watch another sport.
Cotto beats the **** out of hatton 100 out of 100 times. Hatton is way overrated. His power is very overrated as well. All that holding he likes to do would not work against Cotto b/c Cotto is physically stronger than him at any weight class. **** I want to see Hatton fight Paulie.
Cotto destroys Hatton at ANY weight.. Let's get real you people are hyping Hatton up like he's a beast.. Cotto is the beast here!
Cos of poor show last time he weighed in at 147, he's gonna train like he's getting down to 140. obviously without religiously keeping an eye on his weight. i dont think he'll weigh more that 143 at the weigh in.
