The cool smooth boxing skills of McCallum vs speed of Norris. I always thought this was one that Norris wanted no part of. Go`s like this... Norris gives McCallum some problems at first moving and landing his jab/ left uppercut. But, McCallum is not fazed and keeps up the pressure. And he starts digging down to Norris` body. The difference here is that Norris` punches do nothing to discourage McCallum, where as McCallum`s power starts would get to Norris`s shaky chin . 7-9 rd KO with McCallum hands raised ! McCallum was one of THE most underrated fighters in history...McCallum was truly old school, not a ton of flash, but solid wins..
As I see it McCallam would steamroll Norris in a few rounds. Mike is too good and solid for the flashier Norris. No offence against Terry Norris, but I don“t think that he could keep Mike Away. Woller
McCallum was a cool, silent but deadly assasin...Worked with subtle precision, great boxing skills backed by good power. Too much everything for Norris...And a class act out of the rings as well... I just rewatched McCallum against Jackson, wow ! Jackson hit Norris with two big shots and Norris crumbled like week old ritz *******s... McCallum stood up to a ton of Jacksons bombs, cooly walked him down and punished him. Murderous dispaly of bodpunching. After watching this, McCallum in two over Jackson. Why? Because Norris chin was far worse than Jackson who took a lot of shots from McCallum without hitting the deck... Reminder of why Norris avoided McCallum like the plague...
Pretty much a predictable fight i think most rational non nuthuggers would see it this way^^. Ps- Maybe at one time Mccallum was underrated but not now.. If anything he might be a little overrated.
I think he is a little overrated now also. I agree. Underrated in the 1980s but overrated now is respects to his wins and the fighters he fought, which were good but a little flawed at times, and when they were not flawed he lost to them near the end of his career. Norris was quick and if he fought the right fight he could maybe win a decision. He would have to fight on his toes and use his speed and not engage at all.
If anything, norris chin was overrated, against anyone who could crack just a bit, it cracked. End of story with him, he never had good recuperative powers ... I find it amusing how people conveniently forget how often Norris was stopped ...
The Curry fight springs to mind, Norris may a take a few rounds early but McCallum hits him with a left and Norris is eventually stopped
i think this is competative but i also think that as norris slow's he begins to get caught and will by stopped in the mid to late rounds
Gotta love how Rooster stays in the closet when any potential fighting involving Norris fine china chin is involved... He may be smarter than we think...Best chin in jr. middle history ? Terrible Norris !!!!!
