Despite your heated protestations, yes, yes, yes! If he had NOT stayed too long and retired after Ruiz (or even Tarver 1), then he would have been a top 10 alltime and arguably, #1, given his accomplishments, total dominance of opponents from middle to heavy, and undefeated record. (Save for an avenged DQ).
I'm amazed at the posters who are identifying boxers who had Hall of Fame careers and have loads of money and accomplishments as the BIGGEST waste of talent. That's just absurd, even if you think they underachieved. Ibeabuchi is a great example of wasted talent: he showed the ability to get to the top of a division at a time when boxing desperately needed young heavyweight blood. He had the potential for make his name in a marquee division and live off of fame and multi-million dollar paydays. Instead, he sits in prison, winning two fights of note with nothing to show for it except a bunch of boxing experts and fans wondering, "what if?"
judah. guy has the physical gifts most fighters could only dream about. his career could have been a lot better.
I gotta agree with this one, on just pure physical talent the guy has everything to be an all time great just seems to be lacking in the mental department, Judah could've been current p4p king and biggest name in boxing just on his pure talent, the guy has everything power, speed, agillity, chin but without smarts its nothing
Just compare his resume and achievements with the other guys up there, he isn´t in their league. Just common sense and beeing objective. One contender? Well, i name two: Maske and Rocchigiani.
Okay compare his achievements and resume with each of the following fighters and his wouldn´t stand up to their - in NO order: Harry Greb Henry Armstrong Sugar Ray Robinson Sam Langford Roberto Duran Ezzard Charles Mickey Walker Archie Moore Bob Fitzsimmons Barney Ross Barbados Joe Walcott Jimmy Wilde Eder Jofre Willie Pep Benny Leonard Muhammad Ali Sandy Saddler Pernell Whitaker Sugar Ray Leonard Jose Napoles Joe Gans Toni Canzoneri Charley Burley Emile Griffith Gene Tunney Joe Louis Julio Cesar Chavez Jack Dempsey Carlos Monzon Rocky Marciano and i can think of some other guys who could also be argued above Jones.
No body gives a **** about these two. They would've been another two victims on his resume and everyone would've claimed that they were bums. As far as his resume, you have to have people there to fight. He was around during a relatively weak era at LHW.
You asked me to name a top contender he didn´t fight, both fit right into this description. Like it or not. first you say he fought anybody beside DM and whem i prove you´re wrong you say it doesn´t matter. You are making a fool out of youself right now.
Mike Tyson for being mentally weak and Ricardo Lopez for being buried on undercards his whole career.
