Joey abell was outclassed and outgunned. If he fought chris arreola 100 times he would get knocked the **** out 100 times! Its just the way it is... it was written! nothing could stop abell's fate against chris! :fire:fire:fire
At the end of the day if a fighter has no chance of winning and is going to possibly get seriously hurt (permanently damaged) what is the point of letting the fight continue ? Every time a fighter gets a brain injury or dies its a black eye for boxing and would you like to be the ref responsible for letting the fighter take an unescesary beating that either left them dead or brain damaged atsch Yes we all like to see a highlight real ko, but i don't want to see another fighter die so people like zak man can get off on it.
did you read the first three or four post ? they said the stoppage horrible an dicredit arreolas boxing ability by saying he sucks both dumb ass assesments
Yes, the ref is watching it in real time, up close, not from home with replays like us. It all happened in what, 8 seconds, 10? SO in his judgement, Abell was unable to defend himself, and was taking punishment that could have led to serious damage. Was he wrong?
Abell was winning the round and he got caught with a clean shot. He was still on his feet and the ref calls it. Why not give the guy a standing 8 count? If Arreola is still piling on after that then call off the fight, but if Abell recovers and moves how could the fight be justifiably stopped? Think of it this way. If Arreola was the one getting caught clean in the first, is there any chance the ref would have stopped it? Look at how many clean head shots were landed by both sides in the Arreola-Quezada fight. Bull**** stoppage and you all know it.
If the house ref had dived in and stopped the fight after a flurry of Abell punches hurt Arreola the Mexican crowd would have rioted. I've just seen this too many times, a house ref just waiting for the opportunity to dive in and stop the fight. One instance that comes to mind is the hapless Oquendo vs. waltzmaister Ruiz in their dance fest. And that being said I think that Arreola was clearly too strong for Abell - but Abell deserved the chance to continue if he could. He had been winning the round. I also think that Arreola should be fined or suspended for his disgusting homosexual behavior, kissing the stunned Abell (grabbing the mike, too). Arreola is always an embarrassment to boxing.
Chris's skill levels are nominal. I could right a book on everything the man does wrong in and out of the ring. This is why Vitali picked him apart like a vulture on a dead buffalo. I am not hating. I am just saying that at a world class level Chris will never win with the technique or lack of technique he now has.
I agree with all of this, particularly point #1. The ref should have let it go. These bogus stoppages hurt the sport. These squeamish refs are ruining the sport. In the old days, they let the fighters determine how a fight ends, as it should be!
