A 77 Oscar!! He was gone by then. He'd lose both. As a poster said he was supposed to fight Norton in March 75 but a semi-brain dead Quarry replaced him at the last minute. Didn't Lyle UD Ringo, in Denver, at some point, with Ringo being WELL past prime. IMO a better thread would be PVP Ringo vs. Norton/Foreman. Foreman? George stops him, perhaps not as quick as his demolition of Chuvalo. Norton? If Ringo landed clean Ken could be in trouble. My gut thinks, PVP, Norton may have enough to decision him. My $0.02
I was just browsing around on BoxRec and found a link to a newspaper report that stated that the July 10, 1976 Norton - Middleton bout was supposed to be Norton - Bonavena, but due to Bonavena's murder Middleton stepped in. Bonavena was killed in late May. Since the bout was obviously made before that, he would have had a good two months to prepare for Norton. At this stage I don't think it would've helped him much and Norton would've taken it by a comfortable decision.
I don't see either fight turning out well for Bonavena no matter how akward he could be these guys were huge hard hitting fighters....Bonavena has a few moments with Norton but Ken gets him mid to late he was equally as akward but that jab was hard to time even Ali couldn't get his rhythm down....Foreman throws him into the ropes by the shoulders and stops him faster than he did Chuvalo
Norton a huge hard hitter? He is above average and nothing more... Bonavena was stronger and probably hits harder than norton with a better chin
Not sure on Bonavena vs Norton, but I lean towards Norton. Bonavena could crack, but he was no Shavers or Foreman and Norton seemed to be the better boxer, IMO. I think Foreman clubs Bonavena down in a great clubbing.
