That book by Torres,'Sting Like A Bee' was the first biography that I read on Ali. Way back in 1972 !! Very good read. Especially the part when Jose was covering the FOTC.

Oscar Bonavena was a 'much tougher' opponent than many could imagine.

New York Times,,,,,,,,,,pre-fight analysis of Oscar Bonavena

Awkward, slow and clumsy,,,,,,,,,with about as much grace as a bull in a china shop.
Oscar will be a 'sitting bull' for the sharp-shooting Muhammad Ali.

Of course he was a big heavyweight for his day,oh but you're only talking heightwise, everything else doesn't count.
Well Tyson was a pygmy then.

Bonavena was game and gave a good showing up in '70 New York, but Ali was still his superior and scored the 15th rd. TKO in classic fashion....

Even mass wise Bonavena's mass consisted of more fat than u know . Fat does not equal size , and while Tyson was a small heavyweight at least he was a massive 1 , Bonavena , 4 a heavyweight , was not even as massive , unless u consider Michael Moorer 1 of d biggest heavyweights of d previous decade .

More from the New York Times,,,,,,

    Red Smith, sports columnist,,,,,

'Oscar looks like he's fighting underwater, as you can see his punches
coming from the City of Atlantis',

'After five rounds of toying with this slow moving ship, Ali should rip the
'Argentininian Tug Boat' apart, and sink him with a few torpedoes.'

'My prediction, is Ali by a 6th round TKO.'

Oscar was one tough hombre. He may not have been a world beater, but he would always give the world's best a tough fight.
