In 1972, ALI beat CHUVALO with the Rope-A-Dope strategy. in a book published in 1992 or 1993. The RING magazine's Steve Farhood claimed Ali invented the rope-a-dope for the Foreman fight. Goes to show even those past experts sometimes invent fantasy stories, but it makes for a good read and some folks will buy it hook-line-and-sinker.
Durability isn't as big a question when fighting George as most people make it. Ali beat Foreman with his mind. He just literally refused to go anywhere, to be hurt, to back down, and with his conditioning. Chuvalo and Frazier and Lyle are durable sumbitches, and it helped them about zero. Against one of the best heavyweight hitters and killers ever, a great chin can only help so much. Add Ringo's relative slowness and poor defensive posture, and he's basically a big target. No way he makes it beyond five. I don't think he was any more durable than other fighters George finished early.
Even if he did , so what ? stoppages mean much more . I watched both of d Ali vs Chuvalo fights , I read that Ali was hospitalized and peed blood after d fight , like a true winner :yep Chuvalo wasn't . Call it whatever u want . Also , Chuvalo was d agressor . Clean punching , effective aggressiveness , power punches connect percentage , u choose d criteria , Chuvalo won :deal Which shows u how biased poster u r . Bonavena got his ass handed 2 him by Ali , u say Chuvalo didn't do better . Their internal ranking is : Chuvalo Ali Bonavena clearly
Hmmm...upon further review I must change my stance. You are correct. The judges and refs were wrong on all counts. It was Chuvalo who really beat Ali, Bonavena and Frazier. Chuvalo= ATG. Thanks for clearing that up :silly
I never claimed that Chuvalo beat Frazier nor Bonavena . His outcome vs Frazier is irrelevant due 2 a thumb . Vs. Bonavena i need 2c 2 believe so i still don't know , but won't take your word 4 it but as i stated : even if bonavena did beat chuvalo then chuvalo is still superior 2 him due 2 their outcomes vs ali .
