Smith pulverzed Witherspoon when he turned up out of shape for their rematch, could he do the same to the Lennox of the first Rahman fight or is the discrepancy in class still too great?
Obviously Lewis should be favored. But if Oliver McCall can one punch Lennox into oblivion, it is possible Bonecrusher could do the same. If you asked about Smith's chances at the time of the first Lewis-Rahman fight, I would definitely give Bonecrusher a live chance. But, for the Rahman rematch, Lennox was ready and looked about as good as I have ever seen him look.
Yeah, I meant the first fight. Edited that. Thanks. Nothing against Lennox here, btw. More like a Smith appreciation thread. Very peculiar character to me and despite his limitations he had sledgehammers in his fists and a rock chin which is always a tough combo to beat. I feel like this is a winnable fight for him. As long as you were aware and busy, you were good to go because he wasn't a quick thinker and didn't have the instincts of a natural boxer. But when an opportunity arose he attacked like an animal and the lethargic, low-workrate Lennox of the first Rahman fight could get starched.
Smith had the power to upset any man with one punch and Lewis was KO'd by men of lesser punching ability. This is all well and good in "theory", but we saw numerous occasions where it didn't quite pan out that way for Bonecrusher.
