Smith inside of 5 rounds. Possibly a ko1. Tommy's strengths won't do him much good vs Smith. Power will be nullified by Smith's sturdy chin. Smith carries his power all night see the ko10 vs Bruno. If he blitzes Tommy we could have a KO1 like against Weaver and Witherspoon. Tommy struggled with fighters just as crude and even more so than Smith. Guys like Ross Purity, Shot to **** Ruddock had Tommy on the run for a bit .. Morrison went to war with Joe Hipp and anchient Carl Williams.. He might out slick Smith for a few rounds because he's got faster hands and is a little more polished but Smith will find that chin at some point and when he does it'll be a KO victory for him ..
On most nights I'll take Morrison by KO... but we are talking about both at their very best. Smith was a little taller with a longer reach and he used his size well. Smith was very strong and had good power. I'd give him the edge on chin. He stopped Weaver KO1, Witherspoon KO1, and Bruno KO10. He lost a close decision to M. Frazier and he lost a clear decision to Witherspoon. He held Tyson for 12 rounds (Boneclutcher) and lost a lopsided decision. He was outboxed and stopped by Holmes (and again when they were both a million years old). While past prime he dropped Ruddock but got outboxed and eventually KTFO for what seemed like forever. He was also pounded by Moorer for 10 rounds but did last the distance. Morrison only lost 3 times... LKOby5 Mercer, LKOby1 Bentt, LKOby6 Lewis. He stopped past prime versions of Tillis KO1 and Thomas KO1. He beat an old Foreman by decision. He stopped Hipp, Carl "The Truth" Williams, and Ruddock, and he showed a lot of heart in these fight... broken jaw, broken hand, and a couple of knockdowns. Morrison was very strong, had great power, and he was quick. His chin was not the best but he overcame being hurt to win on more than one occasion. I'll take Morrison by KO.
Morrison has the ability to outbox him, but I too would favor Bonecrusher by KO. Smith was in his early thirties when he fought Tyson. Many of his losses came in his mid to late thirties, some in his forties. He was old against Moorer, and old and out of shape against Ruddock. Most likely Smith catches Tommy, severely hurts him, then puts him away.
Morrison is overrated by two or three postors here. He was never rated this highly at the time. He folded every time he stepped up, apart from once when he nicked that decision against old 44 year old Foreman. The only contender Morrison ever beat. This was about a year after Foreman had his face smashed in in the Alex Stewart fight. Mercer destroyed Morrison. Bentt destroyed Morrison. Lewis outclassed Morrison completely. Fat boy Joe Hipp broke his jaw and gave him hell. An old washed-up glass chin Truth Williams had Morrison in trouble. Ross Purrity was robbed against Morrison. Morrison fought no-hope bums out in Oklahoma and he fought old washed-up has-beens. First time they put him in with an up-and-coming prospect/contender, Ray Mercer, he was almost killed. And Mercer wasn't an ATG by any means.
Morrison is overrated ? Uh ? According to this forum he loses every fantasy match. And he has the fame of glass jaw and then norton(noway he had better chin than morrison) is picked by some idiots to beat a puncher like lyle. Morrison would have bombed out norton like an insect
I agree with this post, having watched Morrison's career live I remember back then thinking he was beatable no matter who he fought it seemed and I remember when Purity bouncing him off the canvas multiple times. And He Ross P was a straight opponent at that point he hadnt beaten anyone..
You dont need to be an all time great to beat a guy who is an atg. Tua would smash marciano, ezzard Charles (waiting for an idiot mentioning chris byrd),he would smash langford,or jefries.
Doesnt work like that, if norton had to beat foreman to get his chance against ali then we never would have heard about norton
