Pinklon was also about 4 years older and a recovering heroin addict by the time he met Morrison.. Not to mention having gone through two collosal beatings from Tyson and Holyfield.. I imagine everything hurt a little bit more by that point.
Well put Magoo, having lived thru the entire Era which Morrison fought in I can remember specifically a close friend saying "hell if you got arms and can throw punches you got atleast a 50/50 shot vs Morrison" now that's obviously silly and he was of course being semi sarcastic but the truth remains he was very beatable and it didn't take a world beater to possibly do it. He had tremendous offensive firepower but if he didn't or couldn't hurt or KO you he was in serious trouble.. I remember watching the Holyfield versus foreman pay-per-view and Morrison fought the little-known Yuri Vaulin on the undercard I think I had only seen Morrison whack out some bums at this point which I was impressed by, because of his very crisp power and combo punching. I told all my uncles, father and other friends in the room check out this Morrison guy!! Dad had rented a hotel room since the PPV was offered there, this was before in home ppv was available (atleast in my area) first in home PPV available here was Holyfield vs Bowe 1 which I remember being stoked to get!!!! Back on point, Vaulin made Tommy look like **** landing at will with his jab and combos, even staggering Morrison in the 3rd I believe. I give Tommy credit though just as he looked to be totally unraveling he forced Vaulin to quit after a few wicked body shots, again he had power. But at the end he couldn't catch nearly as well as he could pitch and that was usually his undoing against the upper levels.
Yep...you and I grew up in the same era and saw the same things unfold moment for moment, which makes it no coincidence that we usually agree..
I'm not that big on Smith as some others are, but I think in this match-up that Morrison would unravel at some point and Smith would take him out.
yes yes blablabla excuses and more excuses... i believe that morrison did hit harder than tyson shot for shot
uh?:huh just like foreman and several punchers... the key is surviving him... it is easier to say than making
I agree, Foreman always claimed if could've combined his two careers he'd of been unstoppable. He once referred to himself as a wind up toy or sorts in his first career, having no idea what to do if you made it past his early fury. Tommy was similar, look I can see him doing a number on Smith, Tommy was faster, threw better combos and had better one punch power probably. But Smith was a tougher man and could take punishment better I believe if Tommy didn't blow him out early Smith would be there and dangerous all night long. I just can't see him fighting the perfect fight all night long. I do not consider the Broad fight a black mark on Smith he was very inexperienced and in vs a very polished Amateur boxer. He simply gassed and had no clue how to deal once he was spent.
but foremandempsey was pinkland thomas a shot fighter when he met pinkland thomas ? u got2 answers ? yes or no ?
