Bones doesn't ever want to fight Anderson Silva (sorry Beouche!)

Machida possibly won 5 minutes of a 25 minute fight before Jones took him down with embarrassing ease, on his first attempt, cut him open with one clean strike, then knocked him on his arse and choked him unconscious.

It was a very intriguing fight the first time. We've seen what Machida had for Jones, and it amounted to nothing.

 

Jon Jones on Anderson Silva:

Instead of trying to get everyone to believe it's a bad fight, why don't you put up a poll? Let's see how the majority of us feels about the fight. My guess is most people would vote for it to happen. Majority rules. If I'm wrong then fine. But I don't see what Silva has to lose. His legacy has already been solidified and even with a loss to JJ he will probably go down as a top 3 ATG when he hangs up this gloves. If he wins? He probably becomes the Ali of MMA.

The fight can and should happen. I respect Bones' and Silva's wishes. But it's really up to Dana. If there's enough clamor from the fans he WILL change his mind like he always does, especially when it involves a lot of money.

 

They may be cool but it the fans are clamoring for them to fight and the time is right they'd fight(which is never BTW. JBJ will be done with MMA shortly and doubt he tries to do a Couture. He'd be 38+ if JBJ gets past those guys!). This fight will still be played on my 360 and you're not stopping me Pops! A shame JBJ didn't come sooner for this fight to happen at their peaks and at all but I love both guys and wish them the best. This fight is one of the most intriguing so of course people will gather to it like birds to bread but I agree it isn't meant to be in reality. Doesn't mean we can't dream about it.

In a few years we may see this pic as two ATGs opposed to one guy rising to stardom and the other retiring on top. After Sonnen I'd say Silva retire, he'll be missed. Loved watching his career. GOAT striker.

Dana White does not want Anderson Silva retiring undefeated. He does not want Jon Jones moving up to heavyweight prematurely.

So yes while he normally does not like inter-weight class superfights there is a good chance that Jones vs. Silva is made at some point in the next eighteen months should both fighters keep on winning. It would be Silva's last fight inside the Octagon with the idea being that at worst its a bargaining chip to stop Jones insisting on moving up in weight and at best its the fight that cements Jones as the superstar of the next era.

 

And for all those saying that Dana White would never make the fight - he agreed to GSP vs Silva only to cancel it due to the fiasco in Abu Dhabi and then again signalled his willingness to make the match after UFC 126 only for GSP to change his mind.

 

And I wouldn't take that bet because as I said either could lose and then the fight doesn't happen. Or Silva decides not to retire which removes the incentive for White to make the fight. But to say it'll never happen is silly consider that they did make GSP/Penn II, came very close to making Silva/GSP and have been nagging Franke Edgar to fight Aldo. They don't like inter-weight superfights but they have been willing to make them in the past.
