MMA is officially mainstream. I predict a huge UFC card in NYC before the end of 2013. When the big corporations get involved **** gets done...Quick.

With Jones being an English speaking American this is different altogether IMO.

Impossible not to make the comparison to when Nike moved into Golf to sponsor you know who. Feels like a watershed moment for the sport.

Yeah but it gave a rub to you know who as opposed to Golf. But I think MMA has ALOT more entertainment factor than golf, it goes without saying. But there's alot more money selling golfing apparel than there is T-shirts with skulls on them too

Yeah, but Golf was already established as a sport. Nike seek out the stand out athletes and generate buzz and interest and turn them into superstars. Nike is a huge global money making machine that can promote all around the world. They will make a star of Jones and the sport will grow as a result.

Hopefully it will lead to them getting behind a few more guys, maybe even sponsoring the sport itself

Anderson and a few other guys had local deals, Jones is the first to get a worldwide sponsorship.

I think he meant a Nike regional deal
Jones is the first to have Nike worldwide and his own line of Nike apparel

About time. I mean MMA has a market, the number of idiots with Tapout t-shirts proves that. Nike did something similar when they moved into making Skateboarding gear. If they think they can get a buck out of it, they'll do it.
