So, basically two guys who really control distance fighting one another. Problem Machida will have is dealing with Bones reach advantage, since he will be in range for a longer duration of time than Machida will, and since he is very aware and controlling in terms of range. I think Rampage showed that Bones can be susceptible to a leg attack. Rampage also showed that the spinning elbow can be anticipated. I think for Machida to win, he needs to move like crazy, attack bones lead leg with kicks. From here maybe look to try and counter one of Jones' unpredictable and wild attacks with some closing combination strikes. For Jones to win, I think he just needs to let himself do what he does. He is the more natural range controller. He needs to keep his strikes varried and unpredictable, not let Machida stay all the way out of his range, and at the same time be ready to take a step backwards to counter a counter. He can set up countering to a counter by pretending to be predictable with certain strikes but expecting a certain type of counter.. I hope that makes sense.
Hmm, maybe there should be a thread for this, it is really a difficult call, but Jones seems very hard to beat like Machida was coming up. :think
