What's your feelings on this behaviour?

One recent fight that springs to mind for me was Ricky Hatton vs Juan Lazcano. Lazcano had been nothing but a gent the whole time, never badmouthed Hatton, knew he was underdog and walked in there knowing that he would need to either dominate for 12 rds or K.O. the other guy for a win ... the fight was called The Homecoming (Hattons) after all so he knows he's probably walking out of there with a loss.

Regardless of this, the guy was obviously loving the whole experience, he had a big smile on his face as he walked into an arena with 50,000 hyped up fans. This is what sportsmen dream of as little kids but his smile was wiped quickly as he was getting booed from the fans.

I can understand the booing when it's directed towards a guy who plays up to the bad guy image e.g. Floyd Mayweather, Chris Eubank, Naseem Hamed, etc but personally, I feel booing guys just because they're the opponent lacks a little bit of class. My own opinion is that you should have a bit more respect for fighters, more-so than footballers or basketball players or whatever.

Do you think it's poor form to boo the opponent of your fighter when your guy has hometown advantage or is it all fair play and part of the event?

Then one (especially, one born n' raised in this country) should be appauled at the fact the Mexicans and PR 's boo'd each other during this countries national anthem at Cotto/Margorito. And I'm not a racist fellas. I'll **** any of your woman, I don't give a **** what color they are.

I dont think booing someone means you dont respect them. They were simply booing him as they are all ******ed Hatton fans. If he wasnt fighting a Brit in Britain he wouldnt have been booed

The behaviour of european boxing fans resembles that of soccer fans.
We're going to boo the opponent no matter what:D

That doesn't mean lack of respect, just trying to break the opponent's morale and give our team (or fighter) the psychological advantage.

    [/edit]

I'm not talking about booing during the national anthem, that's disgusting.

Well, I'm a fan of Ricky Hatton, but not a "Ricky Hatton Fan". These are the same fans who booed the US National Anthem, in America, after they had been treated like royalty by the good people of Las Vegas. Generally, the "Ricky Hatton fan" has a very poor understand of boxing, and tend to behave in an embarassing way so it doesn't surprise me that they booed Lazcano.

Also, Audley Harrison (a Brit) recently got booed, by other Brits, in Britain, when he was fighting a foreigner!

If you pay for a ticket, and you dont throw anything at the fighters, nor try to touch them, booing catcalling, whistl:gooding, and talking **** is all fair game!

Yes. Absolutely. It's poor form to heckle a fighter during his/her ring walk.

Hattons fans are AWESOME and even PBF will tell you that. And I am a boxing fan, and I disagree WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Perhaps you should switch favorite sports, I understand in Women's Tennis that the fans have to stay quiet. This is boxing, son, 1/2 a step away from the Roman Coliseums of Nero.

This was intended as an anti-Hatton thing, it happens a lot. I've sat at boxing events and watched guys boo some undercard fighter that they've probably never heard of.

    I don't get it myself.
