That entire press conference is chapter 5 "Horror at the Hudson Theater." By far the most outrageous press conf in the last 15 years. Never to be surpassed.

Honorable mention: Ibragimov-Lance Whitaker, any with Hopkins before the Oscar fight, Toney-Jirov, Hopkins-Toney would have been something else too. Hopkins signed to fight him at 190 in '04 but Toney's people then suddenly cut Hops purse by a million, effectively killing the fight. That one had potential to get way WAY out of control.

Jim; No never have met Panama unfortunately. I got Crocodile and Ronnie Shields post fight and figured that was enough. I hear Panama is a really good guy and a helluva trainer. Steward talks about him and what he tried to do in Memphis. Steward outsmarted their plans though. Last word on Panama is he might be back with Sultan Ibragimov. Sultan really likes and respects Panama.

Scoop I have seen that press conference many times and I would certainly not want to be on the receiving end of Tyson pointing his finger like he was. You got to see what a lot of unfortunate people saw before a terrifying ass whooping but at least you didn't catch that.

I remember that well. So he was going off at YOU like that? I'd have **** my pants. I also remember Zab Judah, who was with Tyson, just staring open-mouthed at Mike, not quite believing what he was seeing or hearing.
Not one of Tyson's better moments, that's for sure.

Hey, I just read that you're a big Lewis fan; I hope your book isn't too biased. :hey

Yeah he hit a breaking point that day, a lot of stuff had built up over the years frustrating him and it snapped then. Saw Zab that next weekend at Forrest-Mosley at MSG and we shook hands, like nothing happened. Saw Tyson much later while exiting at Klitschko-Johnson also at MSG and we shook hands. Friends of Tyson said he doesn't care about what happened that day, he is not one to hold grudges.

Yes I'm a fan of Lewis but also a fan of Tyson (who isn't really?). Called it fair. No one who has read the book has said anything about going overboard jocking Lewis so.

Oh hey, this is the book? I've been hearing little mentions about it for so long...if it's out now, this is an instant buy for me. Or maybe I'll get someone to get it for me for Christmas, actually, that'll please them too.

The anecdotes are what really make this kind of thing. We all can see what happened in the ring, but not what surrounded it.

Most definitely picking this one up!

Brown Bomber; Yeah that was a surreal experience to say the least. Actually have a transcript of Tyson's actual tirade in it's X rated entirety. But somehow I knew he wouldn't jump down. Because he was the one in the wrong. Thank God it wasn't an error in judgement :)

Speaking of Zab, he showed up one day at Lewis's camp on a Friday in Pocono by himself and did a workout out there. Obviously a spy for Tyson. That was strange. Never came back again.

Thanks Mario. Big ups to Mitch Blood Green. Very good hwt and a very nice guy. He goes to the NY shows on occasion.

If it's not at store, they could order it. Chuck Zito was with Tyson that day, he is friends with Tyson. Chuck Zito always seems to be around the big fights. Friends with a lot of them, was part of Gatti's entourage. Chuck Zito is one tough hombre.
