I was wondering if anyone has any good books they could recommend that cover the bare knuckle era. I’m primarily interested in the mid 19th to late 19th century period. I’d also like something that covers the sport in America as well, as most of the books I’ve looked up online seem to almost exclusively focus on this era in the UK and Ireland. I’m perfectly fine with a book that covers the sport from the other side of the pond but I’d just like to see the U.S. side of the sport discussed as well. Thanks!

I was also going to ask if anyone has a book on Jem Mace they’d recommend?

You should try “up to scratch” by Tony Gee.
    Good read.
