    Thanks for the review. I'm sure you get this all the time but i'm a huge fan of you're Langford book. I am a little suprised that so little is written about the fight; A Terrible Splendor stretched the von Cramm Budge match throughout the entirety of the book. But thats an interesting period in boxing history. Wasn't boxing still vaguely illegal.

    Thanks, I appreciate that. You lost me with the reference to the Von Cramm Budge match though, I'm not familiar with that.

    Boxing was illegal in various parts of the country in the very early 1900s and there are numerous examples where fights couldn't be held. For example, the fact that the Johnson-Jeffries fight was going to be held in San Francisco but then had to be moved to Nevada is covered in Arne's book. I find that era fascinating in terms of the boxing history.
