hey classic guys, am looking for good biographies on bob fitzsimmons, jimmy wilde and sonny liston, any suggestions? i know i can count on you lot :good
Got a date yet boss? PlugInBabies, Night Train is the one as far as Liston goes, though have to approach it with a certain amount of skepticism - some of it seems to be bang on,but you need to be able to make up your own mind. Cracking read.
'Night Train' or 'The Devil and Sonny Liston' but not both as they are essentially the same book by the same author. 'Fighting was my business' is the only Jimmy Wilde book I know of, I have it, but have yet to read it 'Prizefighter the life and times of Bob Fitzsimmons' is well overpriced on Amazon etc, but if you live in Britain I have seen it in some larger WHSmiths, haven't read it, but it has been well received
Hart is after Jeffries. Working on Jeff now. DO NOT buy any other bio on Fitz until you have read mine! Anyone who has read my books knows how thorough they are. You will not be disappointed by this Fitz book. It is actually my favorite one so far. Great stuff, wish someone would do a book for the following..... Ezzard Charles, Jersey Joe Walcott, fritzie Zivic, a decent Harry Greb, Henry Armstrong, Pancho Villa and Muhammad Ali.......... JOKE!!!
"The Fighting Blacksmith" (London 1976) by Gilbert Odd. About Fitzsimmons. Maybe, that it is available at a second-hand-bookshop or at amazon.
and as soon as it's available I'll buy a copy. anyone who tries to debate about a fighter that adam's written about can't do it. the account of their fights are catalogued, and he does the same for some of their main competition. anyone who ever claims that peter jackson would easily beat john l. sullivan for instance, hasn't the facts to back them up, which you'd have if you had his sullivan book.
