He was top 10 because he was fighting Wilder. That's literally how it works. They bump fighters up the ranking to make the fight seem more legitimate. Sometimes they even wait until after the fight is signed to move them up the rankings.

Stiverne, Arreola, Helenius, Fury, Ortiz, Brezeale have all been in the Ring top 10, not sure of the dates vs the time of the fight.

According to The Ring, all 6 were of a Top 10 calibre
According to WBC, all 10 of Wilders defences were of a Top 15 calibre
According to random guy on forum, everybody is a bum and there is no top 10 in the heavyweights as there are only 4 fighters (sarcasm btw)

It's a pointless thing though as nobody respects the Ring, WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA etc unless it fits their own agenda...and then they accuse the governing bodies of corrupt politics.

Wilders fight against Helenius isn't comparable to Furys fight against Chisora as Fury deservedly got nothing but hate for taking that fight, and nobody was talking it up like it was a good win. Wilder on the other hand got a lot of praise for knocking out a guy with no defense, slow hands, and a glass chin.

Coming off a devastating loss and KO'ing a guy who just came off his best win over a Ring Magazine top 10 and one of the prospects of the division.
Nobody says its a legacy making win, but good considering he is coming off a loss.
Although I was disappointed and wanted to see a longer fight.
I don't think a 1 round blow out does anything for Wilder
