Very interesting. Thanks for posting. Most people only remember him for the Toronto circus with Foreman but he fought a lot of good fighters and beat some of them.
Boone had a lot of national interest coming up before the Foreman disaster, and he gave a pretty good account of himself before just plain losing it. Its too bad about the Norton bout as he may have been on his way to his career highlight in that one.
Boone's family operated a tavern in Renton, Wa., a Seattle suburb. You could find Boone pulling the beer taps serving up the pints, and punching the speedbag there. He was managed by the legendary Jack Hurley. The Seattle fight crowds would be chanting Booooonnnneeee. He was popular in Seattle.
Thanks for the article, he was a heavy handed fighter and could fight from everything I have read. My dad watched him fight and thought he was a legit contender the tail end of his career with the lack of KO's sounds is classic for a KO puncher lots of knockdowns few finishes i.e. no intensity to finish an opponent. Interesting his facial pictures do not tell the story of a world class heavyweight; a guy who had been in the ring with the likes of Foreman, Norton etc...
