Do any of you buy into this or what? I know Haye has talked for a while about retiring at around 30, but he surely has far more things to do in the division. Lets be honest, his resume so far at heavyweight is laughable. Quitting after a Wlad fight wouldn't make a great deal of sense either. Win, and you are in your prime years (or maybe not even into your prime as a heavyweight) and have a chance to lay down a solid legacy, plus sizeable paychecks in the future. Lose, and you have a number of people to prove wrong, and quite a considerable time to do it in. :huh
Good Riddance as well! Never thought i'd go on turn with him but just lot time for the fella over past 6 months.
I tend to believe them. It's been a recurring theme, not just an off the cuff remark. Plus this fight had 'cashing out' written all over it. I think they see the Klitschko's as the exclamation mark, the career defining fights. Which they are. They have no real interest in creating a legacy of longevity and I think they're probably wise to concede that given Haye's strengths/weaknesses.
I genuinely couldn't give a toss about David Haye's boxing career from now on. I used to be a fan when he was at cruiserweight and moving up but I hope Wlad beats him easily. He can then quit next year as one of the worst pretend champions in the history of the heavyweight division.
It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. Say Haye beats Wlad and then quits...2/3 years time down the line and Povetkin or somebody else holds the title...Haye is still at his physical peak. I think his ego will get the better of him. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 'hiatus' ala Floyd.
He is being serious... He's had only 5 fights in 3 years and has clearly been chasing big money fights rather than legacy defining fights during that period. If he doesn't land a Klitschko before Summer he'll fight against Adamek in New Jersey and retire.
Yeah because a former Undisputed Cruiserweight champion of the World is a lot worse than Bruce Seldon et al... Give me strength...
