Isn't that the idea of these clauses? First a rematch with Wlad, which to be honest is completely standard and expected. Wlad has done more than anybody else in the divison, and he's giving Haye an opportunity here, he would deserve another go. And then to fight Vitali? I thought they were the clauses, maybe I'm mistaken.

That being the case they are not terrible clauses for Haye as he would have the chance to achieve exactly what you say by beating the brothers. Especially if he can negotiate some flexibility on them.

True. But then we may miss out on another good match up for the division which would be Haye/Povetkin. All because the Klitschko's have a strangle hold on things. The division would still be splintered and we'd have other claimants not fighting each other.

We have to remember Haye has done absolutely nothing. Wlad would essentially be his second fight with any relevence at heavyweight, I don't even count Bonin.

Yes, he does get caught up in the Klitschko web in this scenario, but at the same time Haye has to do some hard yards here. He can't expect one or two fights and all the accolades and belts to be in his living room. It's not been like that for a long time in the heavyweight division, its not feasibly possible with the organizations and fractured titles.

In my opinion you give something to take something back. Haye might concede a little money and location in the first fight (still more than a usual challenger...), and yes he has to rematch, but from then on in he is making real progress into becoming the heavyweight champ, and furthermore he has much more leverage in negotiations.

I think I agree. It would be an immensely grueling three fight series but if he came through, man, he'd have a couple of belts and he would be getting massive accolades. I suppose, and I know it's a lot to hope for, if he absolutely flattened Wlad they may dispense with a rematch and send Vitali straight in.

If he's got the ability to beat Wlad, and I'm not convinced, in all likelihood its going to be a stoppage. Probably early. And I doubt he'll sustain too much punishment in doing so, otherwise its gonna be difficult for him judging by his track record. Vitali is gonna be the real tough nut to crack, but I suppose all these big fights could be mentally draining too.

The main problem I see for Haye going forward is getting the WBA bogus belt. If people take the view you need those 3 titles it is going to be tough to drag Andre the giant out of Germany. Or is it Chagaev? :nut

Haha. If he was to beat both Klits I think most would see him as champ although if Chagaev keeps winning then one could argue he has a claim. If Chag beats Valuev again, which I think he will, it should remove the main obstacle (Don King) to getting that belt around a legitimate waist.

No doubt there would be a pissing contest over the 'regular' title though.:-(

Anyway, I just hope something gets sorted. One step at a time, that is the only way to do it with the landscape of this divison.

    1. Wlad
    - rematch
    2. Vitali
    3. Povetkin for IBF title (maybe)
    4. Chagaev (maybe) for WBA title

That's 5 fights to become completely undisputed in every single area, all obstacles down and titles gained. If he's lucky 4. It's not bad, it took Lewis a career to achieve that.
