Arum is a piece of **** scumbag. He's talking down downgrading Rigo to set him up to pay him a pittance. 3 freaking peanuts ought to cover Rigo's payday for his next fight, so dreams Arum.

Pretty sure HBO has not rejected putting Rigo on HBO against a bonafide opponent, but this downgrading of Rigo is how Arum operates.
The scum did the same thing downgrading the merits of Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez early in their careers when they fought under Arum's banner.

Downgrade your own fighter, sign him up to a slave contract promising to upgrade their popularity and get them better paydays, and then paying them a pittance as he collects 10 times the ammount the fighter makes!

Arum is a scumbag, and thats putting it ****ing mildly!!! :fire

For everyone who thinks this is Arum playing politics, I agree with you to an extent, but please name me a fight at 122 for Rigo that HBO should be interested in?

Mijares, Terrazas since I doubt Beltran lets him fight Santa Cruz, or Vic (since HBO apparently is interested in the most pointless rematch in ages).

    Terrazas scheduled to fight LSC.

LSC is with Golden Boy anyway, so that's not a doable fight.

I don't like Darchinyan as an opponent for Donaire, so I would like it less for Donaire's most recent conqueror.

Mathebula lost a lot of his credibility as a good "HBO type world class opponent" when Donaire took his IBF from him. He's fought once in South Africa since, against Takalani Ndlovu to settle their trilogy. Basically a win over him means noticeably less than Donaire's win over him meant one year ago and a lot of people in previous months had cited that as a weak opponent (not myself, but a good half of the posters here).

I actually wouldn't mind Rigo facing Mathebula; it would be Rigondeaux's 4th best victory at the very worst.

Mijares is the one opponent that makes sense for Rigondeaux. He is essentially the only opponent, though, and I think posters here need to understand that.

You put two boring boxers together. Forget it! Nonaire and Rungundeaux lol. Match made in BS.

One has to be the aggressor. Like a Pacquiao who is fearless and comes at ya hard. Not one of these timid counter puncher gonna go at each other lol!

I don't think rungundeaux is that boring. He's boring to an extent that he's slick and moves a bit but it's not too offensive! Nonaire on the other hand is boring as well, one punch here and there. This is what you get!

    Snoozefest.

Christ. Rigo is one of the most skilled boxers today, plus the guy has legitimate power to boot. There's nothing boring about a boxing lesson.

Yet HBO wants to show Donaire again? He couldn't even fill that 6.5K seat Radio City Hall.

Arum was talking **** about Rigo right after he beat Donaire. What grown man uses words like "throw up" when talking about a fighter he promotes? I think Bob is really pissed Rigo beat Donaire and trying to drive him under the bus.

HBO let Golovkin fight Macklin after Martinez knocked him out. Everyone has gone crazy over that win for Golovkin as Macklin put up a good effort against Martinez. Well, Mathebula put up a good effort against Donaire. So I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that fight.

it's crazy if they don't show Rigo. his fight with Donaire wasn't a thriller or anything like that, but he did dominate one of the biggest fighters in all of boxing. Donaire was supposed to blow right through him but was outclassed instead.

the interest in Rigo will be pretty high right now after what he did. some fighters have that "get the win in this fight, look great next time" some times. it's all about being smart and playing to your strengths.
if Rigo does continue to have fights like that, then yeah, they might have a problem. but they need to give him a chance to show more. there aren't any fighters around his weight that are as dangerous as Nonito so he'll be able to open a bit more. but he has to be given the opportunity to do this.

We have to keep in mind we aren't the average fans. We study boxing/watch all the fighters, not just the big stars.

The average fan doesn't understand it, and finds it boring/is an idiot.

If HBO is interested in Donaire-Vic they absolutely should be interested in Vic-Rigondeaux. I get what you're saying about Vic not deserving but he absolutely doesn't deserve Donaire either and a win over Vic would help Rigondeaux more and be more meaningful at this point in time.
