I don't give a **** if he's nearly 50, he is as exciting as watching paint dry.I stopped watching after 5 round of dull crap in which no more than half a dozen punches were exchanged by either man. His opponent has all the skills of a 4 round preliminary fighter. When was the last time Hopkins was in an even mildly entertaining fight? Fight Stevenson, or Kovalev, get ko'd and spare us more of your ego stroking ****. Your opposition at 160 was **** , now you are an irrelevance at 175. Fight either champ or do us a favour and **** off. I don't know the result of the fight and could not care less. Alien? You sure alienated me!
Shumenov was horrible. I quit watching after the KD. I remember one time where Shumenov actually tried to force BHop to fight continuously for about 45 seconds and Hopkins was looking quickly fatigued. Then it was back to starting contests punctuated with Hopkins potshotting at his own pace. The book on Hopkins at this age is to make him fight 3 minutes a round… and to do that, you need to match his footwork and cut off the ring, not follow him around and fall into staring matches. Shumenov needs to fire his trainer… which is himself.
Agreed. Hopkins is a legend, but it's not fun to watch him fight. It's like a wrestling match at times.
Actually, looking at my card, I stopped after the 7th but it was still on the TV and for some reason I caught the KD out of the corner of my eye and was still not interested.
"Boxing is a science", well give me fighting everytime! Steve ,squeeky voice, fat guts, Bunce just said "if i live to watch boxing another 50 years,I'll never see anyone as memorable as Bernard Hopkins". That has totally convinced me he is ripping off the public.atsch
I just find no interest in watching a handpicked opponent make the same few simple mistakes for 36 minutes.
You must have missed the Murat fight if you say hasnt been in an exciting fight, casuals :-( Didnt need to make a thread
