I seriously thought all of those fights were more exciting than Wlad-Chagaev with the possible exception of the Eastman fight.

And Wlad-Chagaev wasn't even Wlad's most boring fight.

Personally, it doesn't bother me that Wlad's boring, as I view his approach as one that is intelligent.

Hopkins and Wlad are both smart in this regard, as they both understand their own limitations.

Wlad just happens to have more limitations than Hopkins, which makes his fights more predictable and less exciting.

Both great fighters imo, but Wlad isn't as slick as 'Nard, and Brendan is a ****wit or just someone who doesnt understand boxing if he thinks a 90s BHOPs is boring

Bottom line with Wladdy, if someone can't force there way inside or mid range and hit him we won't see him in an exciting fight, thats because his advantage is on the outside, simple

It's a stupid thread. Bernard has received a lot of criticism for being boring; Klitschko is not unique in being described as being boring. Nobody praised Bernard's performance when he fought Morrade Hakkar.

:-( He'll fight anybody at heavy except his brother which is understandable. Haye backed out.

What do you call faking a low blow to garner point deductions and a rest when you are fatigued?

I just loved the fact that King found a French Muslim to fight Hopkins at the time the Iraq war was getting underway.

This is almost an insult to our boxing intelligence. Listen, Bernard is a slick, most sneaky and old-schooled toughster, fundamentally sound, solid technically and superbly conditioned, whereas Wladimir fights european-upright-amateurish style, sure Klitschko has size and huge punching power but ask yourself who throws more powerpunches ( just to make it right, a powerpunch is any punch other than a lead-jab)... It has nothing to do, Bernard is called boring b'cause people hate his guts when he beats those guys ( you know who they are) and Wladimir is boring for any specialist or not. What a basic comparision. Hatton also called Mayweather boring and JCC wanted to kayo that boring Whitaker, oh God...

Right. Double Standard. When Hops fakes low blows to incite point deductions to get a rest, he is a ring veteran. Fine.

So when Francisco Lorenzo acts to get a DQ win over Humberto Soto, then that is a "ring veteran" too.

But let Wlad use his jab to stay out of trouble and break a man down and he gets called names. Its a clear double standard.

Incidentally, is ANYONE seriously claiming that Wlad-Chagaev was more exciting than Hopkins-Pavlik?

It really isn't, and I am hard-pressed to see how any reasonable observer can seriously take this position.

Hopkins always gets criticized for his "boring style".
