Which fighters can you think of who are terribly boring most of the time, but their style is very effective? Andre Dirrell Floyd Mayweather Bhop Andre Ward Klitchskos
Floyd can be incredibly boring , skillful and good.. but boring .. have you seen all of his fights? Dirrell vs Froch, watching someone run for 12 rounds is boring ... he is good in spurts .
If you think watching someone for 12 rounds is boring your not a real boxing fan and you dont apreciate good boxing. Its not all about the knock outs man. I enjoy watching a boxing master peice like floyd displays in all of his fights.
I don't think great boxers are boring just because they don't decapitate everyone they face. To me there's nothing like a precision technician. To that extent, I'd instantly remove Hopkins and Floyd. The Klitschkos are boring because they're just being too cautious. Their competition is the pits, (no fault of their own) and a lot of those guys you just know they'd take out if they'd just step on it. Dirrell isn't on that level. Floyd, Hopkins and guys like Sweat Pea (maybe the greatest technician ever) weren't so nervous and jittery and didn't run around like Dirrell. He's so skittish he can't even sit down real good on a punch. Without a doubt he's fast and has some skill, but he's always thinking "get out of the way" first, and punch later. He throws what I've heard Teddy Atlas call "Don't hit me punches". The other three guys I mentioned, slipped punches without losing their foundation to throw back.
Floyd is only boring in the eyes of casual fans. Those that actually know boxing, will enjoy and appreciate a Floyd Mayweather fight
:deal I have to say Hopkins IS BORING. I'm one of his biggest fans because of his ability to nullify his opponents but in all honesty many of his recent fights have been really boring, especially Jones II, which should never have happened. And it seems Ward is the new Hopkins
Ward works up close and in the clinch, which I like. Hopkins does that in certain fights, I really liked the work he did on the inside against Joppy, and he also worked up close (and got hit more than I've seen him in years) against Ornelas. But in too many of the other recent fights, Hopkins just spends too much time clinching and looking to stall time, or at least it seems that way.
