Lewis-Tua was the most boring fight I watched live. Machen-Folley was famously boring I love Emile Griffith but its true a lot of hos fights were boring. He was very workmanlike and only fought as hard as you made him. I find Ezzard Charles to be exactly the same way. Ton of boring fights. When he was in a good fight (at least that we can see on film) it was usually because of the opponent.
The careers of Andre Ward, John Ruiz, Winky Wright were always tough viewing. Anything Mayweather from 135 and up was slightly more boring than golf or curling. Wlad Klit with the exception of the Joshua fight was a bore under Steward.
Agreed. Also, I attended Lewis-Tua. So that made it more difficult. I bet on Lewis to stop him in two (I was thinking possibly a Hearns-Duran-type blowout) and I also wagered that Tua would stop him in 11, given Tua tended to fall behind and stop guys late at that time (Izon, Maskaev, Rahman). So, once the bell sounded for the end of round 11, that was it. Fortunately, there were good undercard fights. Etienne vs Clay-Bey was one of the better heavyweight fights.
Bob Foster-Ray Anderson Dick Tiger-Nino Benvenuti Joe Louis-Bob Pastor 1 (2 is surprisingly good) Harold Johnson-Eddie Machen (the fight has tension. It seems like there is a possibility that something might happen, but it never does. Haven't watched it in a while, though) I agree with the comments about Emile Griffith
Foster-Anderson is a great example. That fight is so boring that Yank Durham verbally eviscerated Anderson afterwards in front of the press. As horrible as Anderson was that day I felt bad for him to have his manager absolutely crush him like that. Anderson was Earnie Shavers sparring partner and had talked trash to get Foster off his game. Shavers told me that he had warned Anderson not to do that and get Foster angry or hed be in trouble LOL.
Erislandy Lara vs Terrell Gausha - Fight so boring that the crowd was doing a countdown every time a round was gonna end. Nonito Donaire vs Omar Narvaez - The restless crowd kept chanting "This is bullsh@t!"
Anything involving Sven Ottke, John Ruiz, Bernard Hopkins... zzzzzzzzzz Ali was involved in a few snoozers... Mathis, Young, Evangelista.
Mayweather, Ward, Hughie Fury, Rigondeaux, Lara, Hopkins, Miguel Vasquez The most unwatchable fighters of this era because they were/are that boring
Watching Andre Wards fights in the super six was a bizzare experience. His fights against Kessler/Abraham/Bika/Green didn't even feel like I was watching boxing fights. They were so boring/dull, so much holding and so much dirty tactics. The Froch fight was slightly better but still dull. After that I said I'm never watching Ward again, and I missed all his other fights until the Kovalev fights.
