On IFL tonight AJ passed comment that if Fury has a couple of fights before him the public will remember how boring he is... Is this a fair comment? No doubt TF is entertaining on build ups but what was the last fight that fury was in that was entertaining??? Are we all blinded by his magnificent victory over klitschko and then his absence from the ring made us remember something different? Interesting view...
Im a Joshua fan but even he doesn't really belive Fury is boring, he is far from boring..to me the Klitchsko fight was very entertaining. To see him school Wlad the way he did was priceless..Wlad just didnt know what to do and couldn't land a glove on him. Tyson Fury took Wlads soul that night. He has been in other entertaining fights...Cunningham springs to mind who put Fury on his backside only for Fury to come back and ko him the fcuk out!
not boring - gets hurt, gets back up! Wlad fight was dull but he got the job done and caused a huge upset
Like Wlad AJ would also be bfuddled and made to look like a big still bodybuilder.. Yes it would look boring if you are into spectacular ko's but I don't think any of the big ko artists would have a clue how to fight him...
I think Fury benefits mainly from his reach and by that I don`t mean as skilled as a welter Tommy Hearns who was nearly impossible to beat because of his reach but he also had better moves than the heavyweight Fury and was faster than other welters plus one punch KO power.
Fury is not a boring fighter but the constant drama is becoming a droning noise It is starting to get very boring I dont want to hear him going on about still being the champ and what he might do He needs to knuckle down train hard run some mountains Then show everyone he still the man Thats all !
I think AJ makes a great point. There always seems to be a fighter that I just don't get and everyone else seems to. For years this was Carl Frampton. For years there were thousand of posts about QuiggFramptonQuiggFramptonFramptonyQuiggsterFRAMPERS.... on and on and fkin on, as though this were the biggest fight of all time. Well, not for me because I'd never actually seen either of them fight for even a minute. I didn't (still don't) get the wild level of interest in Frampton. Fury is not the same, but a similar thing. He's a much more interesting person and did beat Klitchko. But isn't AJ actually right? There's never been any fights involving him with adrenaline pumping and a huge atmosphere that is unforgettable. Doesn't he usually box his way to a points win, with a bit of a jerky and unpleasing style? Can anyone really say some of his recent fights were thrillers? Anyone got the urge to watch Fury v Hammer again to pass the time? Busy breaking out the Fury v Chisora 2 dvd's? Nah, not really eh. The win against Klitchko was huge, but I still question what was going on for Klitchko that night. I actually think the Klitchko that fought AJ would have beaten Fury. I'm not sure Fury is the messiah.
Depends on what you're in to. I love watching guys who box and move; Floyd Mayweather, Billy Joe Saunders and whether you like it or not, Fury is the heavyweight version of that hit and not get hit style. In my eyes, the Klitschko fight was a masterclass, and I think anyone who appreciates the sweet science will agree with me. Watching a young man completely nullify the attack of an ATG was unbelievable. A hugely entertaining fight for me. Tyson's performances against Chisora(2) and Hammer were also a great watch for me. Neither layed a glove on him and he exhibited incredible skills for a big man. That's three performances for me, that he didn't get dropped or wobbled in, that I found entertaining. I always find people who criticise that style, or label it as boring are either A) Uneducated boxing fans, or B) Haters. No doubt if Tyson beats AJ we'll get the "He didn't want to fight" excuse, which is a cop out for inferior boxing ability. Anyone who's well tuned in to their boxing knows that the skill of a fit Tyson Fury is a joy to watch.
got to say, i really enjoyed the wlad fight, was a great boxing performance from fury. ring named him fighter of the year for good reason. sadly the media and forums were clogged full of the 'knock im aarrrrt!' casuals who couldnt appreciate it, or who were far too quick to belittle his performance for a whole host of pathetic reasons. sadly, the current tyson looks a million miles away from the fury we saw on that night. debatable whether he'll ever recreate it.
How can you say you havent seen a minute of frampton then expect any other point to be taken seriously? You give fury zero credit for what he did. He completely nullified Wlad. Kilt literally had no idea what to do against that kind of movement. Just go back and actually breakdown what fury did you might learn something. Fighting AJ is a completely different approach as he doesnt move alot but has alot more power than Fury. To say that wlad would have beaten fury is ridiculous.
Totally agree. I think we're clearly in the minority but I thought it was a fascinating fight. You don't have to blow people away to be entertaining. I also doubt we'll see that performance again which required great movement for 12 rounds and so peak fitness.
Calm down pal. I didn't actually say I give Tyson no credit. I happen to like him and think he's a really good boxer. I just also happen to think Klitchko had a stinker. Tyson is just a bit average to watch is all, as AJ jas fairly pointed out, the one notable exception being against Klitchko. Also I make no apology for not watching Frampton. It's not my fault. I just happen to have missed every single fight he's ever had.
For me heavyweight boxing is all about the lockout blow, I love watching the hit and don't get hit in the lower weight classes but let's not be under any illusions watching that style in the heavyweight division can be boring. Fury was outstanding against wlad and it will go down in history, but having watched Tyson fury from the early days I just don't find him massively entertaining in the ring
I think also that he threw Wlad with his mind games and out psyched him before the fight, showing him zero respect, and it worked. I watched Fury v Cunningham last night funny enough. I was reminded how much Fury was hurt, he looked out cold then got up easy enough, but for a few seconds he looked spark out !
