    Boz posted this last night:

Thank you all for your prayers God is good..won three belts tonight in all three sanctioning bodies.

:think Three belts? Boxrec shows it as having been a 10 rounder for the vacant NABA heavyweight title. I wonder what he meant? (and which sanctioning bodies constitute "all three", presumably of the big four: IBF, WBA, WBO and WBC).

McCall is not shot, hes almost 46 and took the fight on 4 days notice. Hes old and wasnt in the gym. I actually spoke with someone at the fight and they said it was a pretty close fight despite the scoring. He didnt take a beating.

The report I read said the early rounds were close, but that Boswell took over by the midpoint and was landing tons of clean head shots unanswered (but never had McCall hurt).

I can't believe this is a current conversation about heavyweight boxing, with McCall and Cooper both included. Am i in a time machine or are things really this bad in 2011.

I was there it was a competitive fight but Boswell edged out just about every Round. Boswell keeps his hands real low. McCall proved durable as hell though like always. It wasn't a bad fight.

Based on how he looked, can Boswell still clean out some of the flotsam and jetsam among the fringe contenders IYO? (guys like Ustinov, Rahman, Mormeck, etc)

IMO he definitely could on his form from a couple of years ago.

BS. Or you must of been very young when you bet Douglas to beat Tyson.

    :think

Actually, aside from the "youthful" (to put it diplomatically) haircut and piercing...that could be a 40-something. Which makes it even creepier.

I think he has a fair chance. He's racked up some nice Wins the past few months. Oliver McCall & Owen Beck. He's trained by John David Jackson now. Signed with The Heavyweight Factory who takes great care of their guys. Brad Solomon, Cedric Boswell, Timur Ibragimov, have all been moved very nicely their last few fights. (Even with Timur's close Loss, it seemed like a good fight to take. They got Timur back on track big time.) . . . At 41 Years of age he may not have a lot of time but I think he has a fair shot at beating all those guys you've mentioned. I enjoy his style. Unorthodox for sure.

I've spoken to about four people who witnessed the fight live, in the arena. They all tell me that Boswell didn't really win the fight, McCall lost it. In fact, McCall gave the fight away on a golden platter. That's becaues McCall was totally and completely out of shape. In the worst conceivable way.

As described to me, Oliver walked Boswell down, but was unable to unleash punches due to poor conditioning. Ambling forward all night, McCall could only let one or two punches unload after long periods of not moving his hands at all. Meanwhile, Boswell, who was superbly conditioned, ran around connecting wtih light left hooks and jabs. McCall was never hurt or bothered by the punches, but he fell way behind on the cards.

I have been told by everyone that McCall looked like a winner in rounds 3 and 4, when he shook Boswell several times with rights to the head. Some of my contacts even swear that Boswell was noticeably hurt. However McCall was so hopelessly out of shape that he could not capitalize on his advantage.

Allegedly there was lots of holding, and Boswell went to the canvas twice in slips. Interestingly, Boswell once went down when he took a knee. However the fall was not ruled a knockdown.

From the 7th onward, McCall's lack of conditioning was really evident, and he was breathing hard. Still, Boswell could not hurt McCall. Boswell just piled up the points by keeping his hands busy. According to everyone, McCall's only rounds were the 3rd and the 4th.

Aside from three sparring sessions, McCall has not been to the gym since December. He openly admits that he has not run a single mile since December.

The last time Oliver was in halfway decent shape was for Ibragimov, in June. That's because Oliver was living in a court-mandated halfway house (sober house) for two months, a sentence imposed on him after running into trouble with the law earlier this year. Oliver weighed 244 lbs for that bout. For Oquendo, Oliver weighed 252 lbs. For Boswell, Oliver weighed 259 lbs. Go figure.

McCall is blowing his chance to be the "new" George Foreman.
