:think Interesting. So the best thing you can take away regarding Boswell is his conditioning? The fact that McCall buzzed him isn't much of a mark against him. McCall can hit (in shape or not). McCall not being hurt himself is definitely no surprise. Boswell isn't quite known as being feather fisted (he is after all a big beefy dude, with moderately heavy hands if no explosive power) but also wasn't expected to win any way other than on points. Thanks for the 411. :thumbsup
Without having seen the fight, I really don't know what to make of Boswell. Two of his fights are on youtube.com, and I like what I see. Based on what I heard, it sounds like Boswell has a high level of boxing/fighting ability. He's fairly fast, and he can throw straight punches. I stressed Boswell's conditioning only to contrast his shape with Oliver's. The big difference -- as explained to me -- was conditioning. Certainly I would give Boswell credit for being more than just a well conditioned fighter. Again, I like what I saw on youtube.com. I am very surprised, however, that Boswell's power didn't make an impact on McCall. I had always presumed Boswell was a big time puncher. A guy who put anyone to sleep if only given the chance. And I agree with you: getting buzzed by McCall in rounds 3 and 4 is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, sounds like Boswell had the ring smarts to avoid being punished further, and to reassert his control via boxing. I am very disappointed in Oliver, though.
Good but not great win. Hope Boswell will get a contender next. Or Holyfield, Toney, Harris, anyone with a minor title.
