i watched the Mosley-Cotto fight the other day and Cotto was way more scrappy back then. He used to fight like he couldn't lose now he fights not to lose.

Cotto & Margarito fought a great fight but neither have been the same since. Cotto is getting rid of some bad habits but I saw him still squat down once, he needs to get rid of that habit. Steward is making him sharper and as great as he is, he can't bring someone's prime back. Both Cotto & Margarito are past it but still dangerous.

Cotto is definitely shop worn and not prime.

There are more things that determine a boxers prime than just his age. Cotto has taken some serious punishment, and it shows.

Coto is certainly past prime, but he's by no means shot. He has a few more fights in him. Personally I'd like to see him avenge his defeat to Margo then maybe have a crack at Martinez before retiring, Why not?

Other than his obvious speech impediment, I think Tyson would make a great boxing commentator. He seems to have alot of knowledge about the sport. He surprises me sometimes.

The "past their prime" part wasn't what I disagreed with.

It was the "trying not to hurt each other" part that made it sound like neither man was giving effort. Looked to me like they were both throwing some pretty hard punches, all the way thru. Looked like they were both giving 100% even tho today's 100% wasn't their "prime 100%"

Cotto is shot. It's not like he was the second coming of Ray Robinson when he was prime.

The why not is that Martinez would destroy Cotto in a one sided uncompetitive fight. I wouldn't spend $10 in ppv money to what a fight with so little potential to be competitive. The why is, it will be a good way for Cotto to cash out. $ rules the world.

    Tyson is exactly right.

The end of Cottos prime was started by Margarito, and finished by Pac. Not because he lost.... but how hes looked since.

Mayorga hasnt been prime in my eyes since hes left 147... and has been done as a top tier fighter since Hoya bashed him. In reality, Mayorga is near 40, and has been past it for years now.

If Cotto is past prime, than what the hell was was Mayorga? or the 36 yr old Mosley? Cotto just isn't as good as people thought he was, I see nothing that points to him being past prime.

Cotto may not be WAY past his prime, but he certainly isn't at his peak, and is currently spiraling downward towards losing his edge.

For one, his facial expression looks less like a warrior and more like a man trying to make a living for his children.

I guess we can say cotto is one beating away from retirement, if he keeps winning he will go on, he handles guys like mayorga easily but if he decided to get in the ring with williams,angulo,martinez,pac2,marg he will suffer a beating.
I think he has enough in him to pull out a margarito win, after that he shoudl target the zbik/chavez jr winner at 160, he can beat them and add a fourthbelt, either that or fight alvarez, if he wins fight pac 2 big money and chance at complete revenge, going away fight vs kermit cintron in puerto rico, retire 2012.
