Really? cause Tyson said they were basically trying to get a paycheck without hurting each other... but they were throwing bombs in there.

I agree with Mike . . . both are past their primes . . . especially Mayo . . . but still they brought lively action and excitement . . . so I still appreciated it.

gotta agree with Tyson. this doesn't mean that Cotto is finished. ****, i believe Cotto is capable of beating many if not most of the top boxers today. prime Cotto destroys today's Mayorga though, inside 8 rounds tops

And yet in the exact same interview said :

“both Cotto and Mayorga are past their prime tying to earn a paycheck and not trying to get hurt”.

Really? It looked like they were trying to ktfo of each other from where I was sitting.

Cotto isn't shot, but is clearly past both his peak and prime.

I find this hard to judge.

IMO take whatever you consider prime Cotto and put him in the ring with Mayorga and IMO you still get the same outcome, late stoppage. I don't see him doing more or receiving less damage either.

I can concede he's slightly past prime but those saying he's shot are fools.

LOL at the people in this thread stating "prime Cotto destroys today's version of Mayorga inside 8 rounds."

Lets turn that around....what would a prime Mayorga the one that fought and beat Vernon Forrest twice at 147 lbs do against today's version of Cotto??????:D

I'd say Mayorga KTFO Cotto inside 8 rounds!

Agreed with both of them being past their primes. Cotto's still a formidable fighter though, and Mayorga looked better than expected.

I don't know what Tyson was saying though about them not trying to hurt each other.

Tyson also sounded like he was intoxicated.
