Lets face it, in the light of the negative widespread media attention the BBBoC couldn't come out with anything else. However, it does no way mean this is the course of action they will take.
MR DERECK CHISORA "The British Boxing Board of Control are looking at the behaviour of British Boxing Board of Control licensed Boxer Dereck Chisora prior, during and after his contest for the World Boxing Council Heavyweight Championship against Vitali Klitschko on Saturday, 18th February 2012 in Munich. The Stewards will be considering Mr. Chisora under Regulation 25 (misconduct) and a further statement will be issued once the Stewards have decided on what action will be taken. With regard to Mr. David Haye, Mr. Haye is not a licensed Boxer with the British Boxing Board of Control and therefore no longer under the jurisdiction of the British Boxing Board of Control"
Although I'm all for punishing these two, a 'life ban' seems a bit harsh to me. Like said, Haye is already 'retired' as it is, so chosing not to grant him a new licence for a while (or ever) is very well understandable. In Chisora's case I think a long time suspension (1 or 2 years or so) with a kind of 'parol' option seems much more fair in this case. It's not like he loaded his gloves, or bit someones ear off...
The problem for the BBBofC is that if a lifetime ban is imposed a potential restraint of trade lawsuit against them from either party would be massively expensive to defend.
I'd have thought they'd need to prove the ban was punitive in nature for that. If del has broken the terms of licence they can surely refuse on their own discretion.
If Chisora gets a life ban he can still get a Latvian license or something like Danny Williams did. Sure he wouldn't be able to fight in the UK but he could continue his career in Europe. However, I doubt the board will go that far. Maybe a heavy fine and/or suspension. I think Frank will put some pressure on the Board cos he was really pissed off that they didn't do their job in Germany so that might come into it.
