Hopkins "is" afraid of Kovalev, but he is greedy and he will do anything for money. If I were he I would take the bigger payday.........................I want to thank HBO for making this fight possible, and for Stevenson pricing himself out of the equation......................Stevenson deserves to lose the money, Hopkins out smarted him, and Kovalev? Kovalev only care about the title, at this moment, the big money will come later. Hopkins will have a really good retirement.................think back years ago, what did he do to his trainer after winning the lottery?

Farmy, you're acting like Hopkins is making Floyd-Pac type of money here.

Has there been any word on purses for this?

Now Stevenson "priced himself out" by offering a bigger payday than the man that Hopkins "would never fight because he's scared"... :rofl

Pac/Void money can't be made by any fighter, no where nearly so, however, I remember when Kovalev said he would take a cut, take the "B" side to get a huge unification fight, which means that Hopkins is making a lot of money.

“We really thought we were going to go into a fight with Bernard Hopkins, but he was too greedy,” Stevenson’s promoter Yvon Michel told TVA Sports. Michel stated that Hopkins wanted nearly 75% of the money offered by Showtime. Think back, Hopkins is a penny pincher, he probably has the first dollar he ever made........................he is fighting for the money...............he is a smart businessman, when it comes to money Hopkins knows what he's doing..................Kovalev and Stevenson are both very difficult fights for Hopkins, so why not take the bigger payday? Remember what Hopkins did to his trainer years ago when he finally made it to the top? It was sad.......................

I can't believe this is not PPV..............................

I would fight Godzilla for the millions Hopkins will be getting.........................yes, I would be afraid, but money does strange things to people.................

Again, no fighter living today can make the huge amount of money that Pac/Void would make if Void could get the nerve to fight him......................it would be the biggest PPV fight ever.........................and I am so frustrated that it will not happen.......................it will soon be too late.................

“We really thought we were going to go into a fight with Bernard Hopkins, but he was too greedy,” Stevenson’s promoter Yvon Michel told TVA Sports. Michel stated that Hopkins wanted nearly 75% of the money offered by Showtime. - Think about it.........................fighting Kovalev was a no brainer, remember, Hopkins is a businessman first................this will probably be his last fight, but everyone thought that when he lost to Calzaghe, Jones, Taylor, Dawson, got knocked down several times by Pascal, etc., but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ yes, that is what Hopkins sees during they day and dreams about at night...............

I'm pleasantly surprised this fight got made. Kovalev seems to need room to work. His punches are long and straight. Hopkins is one of the game's premiere infighters. He will probably come inside, sit down at Kovalev's table and stay all night. Hopkins is also a master at timing his entry inside. Hopkins definitely has a great shot at schooling Kovalev, and yet Kovalev has a great shot at pressing the pace and keeping Hopkins on the end of hard punches. It's a fascinating matchup. I can see either guy winning. I'd find myself very hesitant to bet against Hopkins, and yet something tells me to bet on Kovalev. I might have to sit on the sidelines on this one, or just make an odds play with the underdog, if odds allow.

More fights need to be made like this; fights where fans believe either guy can win. Boxing would have a swell of popularity and viewership. People get tired of seeing fights where there is little to no danger for one side or the other. I mean circus KOs and one-sided slaughters can be fun to watch sometimes, but give me a good competitive fight any day. The prefight drama of wondering whether your guy is going to win, the edge-of-your-seat excitement from round to round--it's awesome. Thank God there are still teams with balls in the sport willing to put themselves out there into the unknown for the fans. More of this is what boxing needs.

Hopkins is ducking a third fight with Dawson. Like he ducked the first two.
