Against McGirt, it was when the fight boiled down to a brawl or was fought in close quarters that Taylor would get the better of the action, while McGirt typically opted to use in and out tactics to try and outbox him when he realized he couldn't hang in close. None of it worked for McGirt, which is why he was eventually worn down.

After a close 8-9 rds, I feel that the greater accuracy & cleaner punching will enable FMJ to edge away from MT... I think the late rds stamina will favour FMJ & enable him to pull this out also.

 

MeGirt would catch Taylor loading up trying to brawl that he would get caught counter left, that when George Benton would constantly tell Taylor , use your jab to setup fast punches not hard punches, it was George benton that would settle him down to keep him from getting KOed. it also help that Mcgirt was not healthy for that fight which is why I believe he wore down.

but my point is Taylor would stray from the plan and trade shots, it was george benton who would settle him down and box, but it did not always work.

 

To be honest I think it's Taylor who is severly under-rated. People honestly thought he was going to be the next Ray Robinson until he got de-railed by a fighter most people don't like. Even FMJ or RJJ doesn't have the gifts that Taylor had. He had every physical gift, and was very technically sound, but was just short of his peak when he fought Chavez. Chavez is considered by most experts more highly rated as an ATG than FMJ and most experts think Taylor was beating Chavez before the stoppage. (Though I disagree with this notion because Chavez landed the harder shots, it's still an overwhelming majority.)

If Taylor hadn't fought Chavez he probably would have gone on to have a legacy just like Whitaker and even FMJ. If he had he better management team he would have avoided Chavez and cherry-picked opponents for big pay-days. Thing is Taylor wanted to challenge himself and become a great fighter.

(Plus he usually stuck to gameplan. His gameplan against Chavez was to fight on the inside, and it served him well cause he could launch twice as many punches as Chavez. Unfortunately for him Chavez hit harder and Taylor was such the proud athlete that it didn't show until the twelfth round how battered his body was.)

 

Taylor... Did you see the problems PBF had with Judah? Well Taylor is faster and has a better arsenal. Not to mention he has the better chin, better work rate, and a real fighters mentality.

 

Mayweather UD and it wouldn't be close

Taylor, although fast, had lackluster defense. He would get caught and caught often by Mayweather who was/is a sharpshooter.

 

Taylor beat his best comp at 140 which was only Mcgirt and then he lost to Chavez after Chavez he was done. I don't have to mention all PBF has done before 140. PBF would using his timing and pick him apart. You need more than speed to beat someone and as far as Zab, it was twelve rounds not a six rounder. We can't dwell on the first half of the fight when there are more rounds to fight.

 

You can't ignore that he was outboxed for the first half of the fight. Had Judah had more composure he may well have gotten the W. He does not and the rest is history but he still showed that PBF can be bothered by speed.

 

Again, it is a twelve round fight. PBF was slowly, but surely breaking him down. If it was not for the fiasco, I truly believe PBF would have knocked him out. The best Zab was against Spinks and I don't believe Spinks could ever beat PBF. He can be bothered by speed and this is why I would like to see him fight Pac. You guys know that if PBF comes back, Roach is going to demand that PBF come down to 140 and repeat what they did to Oscar.

 

Unlike Oscar I don't think this would bother PBF too much considering he always enters the ring at about 147 anyway.
