Bottom Line: Floyd Makes more vs. Big Show than Cotto

This is a sad indictment against Cotto. No one wants to pay to watch Cotto.

I wouldn't go that far to say no one wants to pay to watch cotto BUT really would a Cotto fight be in the league of 20 mil? I doubt it. Even with % of the PPV buys.

It aint about Cotto not generating the same business, it's that WWE is a bigger franchise and has the faculties to offer Floyd this amount of money. I don't care about how much money Floyd's making, I'm a boxing fan and want to see a good fight, not a guy fake fighting another wrestler.

***** move by Floyd- he looses respect when he goes specifically after money, instead of trying to secure his legacy as a boxer. I don't blame him for choosing money over fighting- I just don't respect him as a fighter.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a hypocrite.

After the Hatton fight, he said to Merchant "It wasn't about money anymore. I made all the money in the world already" Then he cashes out for the DLH rematch and takes another fat check for this WWE event, and that's his entire schedule for 2008? After telling us it wasn't about money? All the while, hijacking the welterweight division and making all of the division's top fighters wait on him?

Can't really knock a man for makin money.. but I'ma have to make an exception in this case.. it's bull**** what Floyd's doing to the sport of boxing.

Either retire and give up the titles... or FIGHT!

So what if Floyd is getting $20 Million from Big Show? That's just money . . . it doesn't change the fact that Floyd is ducking Cotto . . . isn't that right? :yep

Nobody wants to pay to see Cotto? Can you justify that? :think

Ive followed WWE for along time , they dont generate enough revenue to pay 20 mill for a one night only show. Dont believe it , its part of the hype. Shane McMahon , whilst been a legit boss , is also an on screen character who also plays on the money , money , money thing , been Vinces son.

I'm glad your concerned with Floyds bank account, but real boxing fans only care about the sport. A fight with Cotto might not make Floyd 20mil, but a fight with the big show doesn't make him the P4P King and the Best WelterWeight in the world. If its all about the money, than floyd needs to start calling himself the riches in the business not the best. He has done nothing in the WW divison to back up his #1 ranking and should not have beaten Pavlik for FOY.

Floyd is a hypocrite, who is making it clear more now than ever that he is avoiding Cotto. He's ***** and there shouldn't be one boxing fan who respects what he's doing for/to the sport.

Honestly, with all this 20 million discussion it's probably just from the WWE hype machine.

I really, REALLY doubt that they'd pay any entertainer 20 million dollars for a single performance.

A few million dollars, without a doubt.

But 10 to 20 times what any wrestler is going to make at the event?

Nope. Sounds like pure headline grabbing publicity to me.

    And it's working.

If you believe Floyd is getting 20 mil for this you probably believe The Undertaker really did come back from the dead and Triple H really did shag the corpse of Kane's dead girlfriend.

GL: Mayweather-Cotto, will it ever happen?

BA: "It certainly would happen if we had our druthers. Cotto wants the fight and I want the fight, Mr. Mayweather I doubt wants the fight."

GL: Although Mayweather would probably tell you you're in no position to make him any offers since he's Mayweather and your guy is the B side. In the past, you made it clear that you were willing to offer Mayweather $8M to fight Margarito, how much money is Top Rank willing to guarantee Mayweather for the Cotto fight?

BA: "First Mayweather has to indicate to us that he's interested...

GL: (cutting in) He never indicated that he was interested in Margarito and that didn't stop you making any offers?

BA: "I understand, but I've been through that once already with Mr. Mayweather and he will not fight anybody who has a remote chance of beating him. Until Mayweather says that he'll fight Cotto, I'm not going to do anything."

No disrespect, but I doubt Mayweather exactly cares about your respect or anyone else's.

The only reason these guys are getting their heads bashed in is cold hard cash. So the money from WWE is far greater than a fight with Cotto.

If boxing fans actually stood up and forced fighters to take fights instead of ducking every legitimate opponent, only fighting twice a year, got rid of the alphabet orgs, had one champion per division, and stopping this legacy crap that ensures a fighter goes out without losing to the incoming champion, maybe boxing would be in better shape today.

Boxing is not about respect, it's all revolved around money. Mayweather is undefeated and is not going to risk that for a fight unless he's getting paid a lot of money for it. And Cotto's not money. Not saying that is good for boxing, but this is the monster the sport has created, and because of promoters and because boxing fans don't withhold their own money to demand better of the sport, that is how boxing works, has worked, and will work for the foreseeable future. For the love of God, Lennox Lewis cared so little about a title he once sold it to Don King for a Hummer.

Mayweather was the #1 and #3 drawing PPV last year. Cotto best doesn't touch half of Mayweather's worst.
