I look at it like this...
The guy has been rehydrating upwards of 15-20 lbs in every fight!
He's been draining himself down to 54 jus to drag up junior welterweights and welterweights to have an advantage..
155 is a d a m n joke period and anybody who defends this stupid catch weight is not a true fan of the sport IMO....

So bottom line is canelo a middleweight?
And should he really still be fighting @154 when he has bigger fish to fry?.

He fights within the MW limit so yes.....

If he wants to fight at 155 fine, let MW
come in at the MW limit though

he's a MW, no matter how reluctant Oscar is to admit it. And no, he shouldn't be fighting any WW's period.

He is a MW. He has fought at the long existing recognizeed MW range and in his last fight pulled up a WW to that range so he could have it as a sanctioned defense.

Canelo is and has been for his last few fights by definition a MW

Depends on what side of the argument your on most current top 10 JMW's & MW's come in the same weight that Alvarez does currently idk any current MW can make 155 so I'll say JMW based off that.

Physically, Canelo is not a natural middleweight. Being a natural 175+ pounder vs. ballooning to 175+ via massive water gain are two very different bodies. Yes, he can outweigh most MWs on fight night but he will always lack the FRAME of a natural MW.

If he chooses to fight at 160, most of the top MWs (Saunders, Lemiaux, Eubank, Jacobs etc) will spank him.

Canelo can definitely make the MW limits but is he really a MW?

Amir Kahn fought at MW, does that make him a legit MW?

He's a middleweight who campaigns as a Jr middleweight. He won't be able to carry on cutting that much weight for too much longer.

The question was is Canelo a MW. I am basing my answer on what he has weighed in at for the official weigh in his last several fights which is 155. That is the long recognized MW range. Cannelo could probably weight in at 175. I'm strictly talking about official weigh in weight

If Khan fights his next several fights at 155-160 then he'll be a MW as well.

He is not a mw, but he won a mw title. He should've vacated the minute he won it and campaigned at 154 until he slowly moved to 160. Dlh thought that he could smear GG and his plan failed. Dlh only cares about money which is why I don't totally blame Canelo, but when GG became the mandatory...as much as I don't like him, he did become Canelo's mandatory. Now Canelo has to fight him or continue to get ****ted on by boxing fans.

He's a proper super middleweight. Seriously, that's what he is.
