The point was to show that Bowe did not avoid punchers. If that was the case, there was no reason to face Cooper, who was solid and very dangerous of the time.
I'm not convinced Cooper was a dynamite puncher. He wasn't even as a cruiser. At least at cruiser Hide had that nice ko run, albeit nobodies. I just don't see it as all that risky of a fight. Bowe has every single physical advantage possible against an easy to hit opponent that will be right in front of him. What could be better? To me, it was a par with the risk Foreman took fighting Cooper and I thought that was a pretty safe bout as well.
Damn. Don't go to sleep on Bert Cooper (Holyfield). He's not there to box. He's there to bomb. What about Henry Cooper vs Bert Cooper? I'm not sure about that one. Any suggestions? Henry Cooper had the better left hook?
